Job description

Sierra Space Careers: At Sierra Space, we build the missions and systems that keep our world secure in the domain above Earth. Sierra Space team members share a spirit of innovation and collaboration and a belief that we can deliver on the boldest missions in space today. Together with our customers, we aim to safeguard our nation, sustain human presence in space, and secure the freedom of operations in low Earth orbit and beyond. Our success is measured by the trust of those who rely on what we build and deliver, and our technologies keep the United States and its allies mission-ready throughout space. We are mission-driven, and together, we are an extraordinary team.

About the Role

As a Thermal Analysis Engineer I at Sierra Space, you will initiate your career in thermal analysis within the aerospace industry. This entry-level position offers the opportunity to build foundational knowledge and skills, supporting the development and analysis of thermal systems under the guidance of senior engineers. You will work collaboratively within a team environment, applying basic aerospace principles and standards to contribute to routine technical problems. In this role, you will assist in the analysis and development of thermal systems used in aerospace applications, leveraging your basic understanding of thermal analysis to support engineering projects. You will apply limited use and application of aerospace principles, standards, theories, first-order analysis, and concepts to contribute to technical initiatives. Under the supervision of senior engineers, you will help develop solutions to routine technical problems of limited scope and complexity. Additionally, you will prepare and document technical data, reports, and presentations to support project initiatives and team decision‑making. You will communicate technical concepts and information clearly, both verbally and in writing, to team members and senior engineers, ensuring alignment and collaboration. Following instructions from senior engineers, you will work collaboratively within cross‑functional teams to achieve project goals. Furthermore, you will participate in team meetings, technical reviews, and brainstorming sessions, providing input and gaining valuable insights from more experienced engineers.

  • Ability to work in a team and follow instructions from senior engineers.
  • Clear verbal and written communication of technical concepts and information.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with basic engineering software tools and applications related to thermal analysis such as Thermal Desktop, SINDA/FLUINT, ANSYS, or COMSOL for thermal analysis and simulation.
  • Proficiency in programming and scripting languages (e.g., Python, MATLAB) with application for thermal analysis tasks and post‑processing results.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
  • Demonstrated eagerness to learn and apply new concepts and methodologies.
