Job summary

Community Hospital Corporation is seeking a Physical Therapy Aide to provide targeted treatments under the direct supervision of the Staff Physical Therapist. You will assist in patient rehabilitation, documentation, and clerical duties to support efficient department operation.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, a completed PT Aide competency evaluation, current BLS, and basic knowledge of physical therapy modalities. English communication is essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide specific treatment only as directed by the Staff Physical Therapist.
• Maintain patient medical record forms and evaluation documents; assist in invoicing and billing records.
• Communicate changes in patient condition to staff.
• Order and stock adaptive equipment; maintain equipment records.
• Transport patients per schedule and ensure safety compliance.
• Prepare and clean treatment areas; close department preparations.
• Record treatment/service revisions per policy.
• Ensure treatments are correctly documented and countersigned by licensed PT.
• Collaborate with other departments to support patient care and performance improvement.
• Maintain good working relationships within department and with other teams.
• Assist with posting patient charges in computer order entry system or on paper invoices.

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for provision and administration of specific physical therapy treatments only under the direct supervision of the staff physical therapist. The Physical Therapy Aide as directed and supervised by the Staff Physical Therapist assists with restoration of patient functioning to prevent disability following injury, disease or physical disability. Assists patients to reach their maximum performance and level of functioning while learning to live within the limits of their capabilities. Performs clerical duties, assists with posting of patient charges in the computer order entry system or on hardcopy invoice system.

SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Responsible for providing specific treatment only as directed by the Staff Physical Therapist.
• Maintains patient medical record forms, evaluations, educational handout distribution material, assists in record keeping of patient files, invoicing, claims billing.
• Communicates any changes in condition (physical or mental) to staff physical therapist, nursing and other facility personnel as appropriate.
• Orders, stocks, maintains accurate records of adaptive equipment.
• Transports patients according to scheduled appointment time, maintains compliance with safety policies during transport at all times.
• Prepares and cleans treatment area for patient use at all times. Performs final cleaning at close of department in preparation for first morning patient.
• Records treatment/service revisions in accordance with departmental policy.
• Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly.
• Responsible for assuring that licensed Staff Physical Therapist reviews and counter signs aide’s documentation.
• Maintains a good working relationship both within the department and with other departments.
• Consults other departments as appropriate to collaborate in patient care and performance improvement activities.

BASIC SKILLS

• Basic computer knowledge.
• Basic awareness of physical medicine, physical therapy modalities, anatomy and physiology.
• Basic knowledge of physical therapy machine operation, maintenance and repairs of same

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

• High school graduate or GED certificate
• Satisfactory completion of Physical Therapy Aide Competency Evaluation and job training
• Current BLS certification
• One-year experience Physical Therapy Aide preferred

LANGUAGE SKILLS

• Able to communicate effective in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Additional languages a plus.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Position requires the ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 pounds.
• May be required to assist with patients or equipment up to 500 pounds. T
• he individual will be required to stand for long periods, push, pull, lift, bend, kneel, twist, and reach above shoulder level.
• Requires vision and hearing skills corrected to near normal range.
