Job summary

Lifeways MI seeks a Part-Time Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Therapist in Hillsdale, MI. Schedule: 20 hours, flexible Monday–Friday 8am–6pm. Provide trauma‑informed, recovery‑oriented care under Outpatient SUD Services, with supervision.

Requires a Master’s degree and MI licensure; CADC/CAADC or active development plan preferred. Responsibilities include individual/group therapy, assessments, treatment planning, documentation, and crisis response.

  • Licensure in Michigan: LMSW/LPC/LMFT or limited license.
  • Certification: CADC or CAADC or active development plan.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions with a person-centered approach.
  • Provide clinical assessments, diagnoses, treatment planning, and progress reviews.
  • Deliver evidence-based interventions.
  • Coordinate care with professionals, social service agencies, and partners.
  • Lead psycho-educational groups on substance use and behavior management.
  • Respond to crises with compassion and professionalism.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in the EHR system.
  • Complete trainings (ASAM, MSHN, etc.).

We’re looking for a Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Therapist to join our Outpatient Services team. Under the guidance of the Supervisor of Outpatient SUD Services, you’ll play a vital role in delivering trauma-informed, recovery-oriented, and evidence-based care to individuals seeking support for substance use challenges.

What You’ll Do

Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions with aperson-centered, solution-focused approach

Provide clinical assessments, diagnoses, treatment planning, and ongoing progress reviews

Deliver evidence-based interventions

Coordinate care with professionals, social service agencies, and community partners

Lead psycho-educational classes/groups on topics like substance use and behavior management

Respond to crises with compassion and professionalism

Keep accurate, timely documentation in our electronic health record system

Stay current by completing required trainings (ASAM, MSHN, and more)

Requirements

Required Education/Certification/Licensure

  • Therapist I: Master’s degree. Limited License in the state of Michigan, Limited Licensed Masters Social Worker (LLMSW) or Limited Licensed Professional Counselor (LLPC) AND is a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC), Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CAADC), or has an active development plan / is willing to start a development plan.
  • Therapist II: Master’s degree. Fully Licensed in the state of Michigan, Licensed Masters Social Worker (LMSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT), or Limited Licensed Psychologist AND is a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC), Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CAADC), or has an active development plan / is willing to start a development plan.
  • Therapist III: Master’s degree. Fully Licensed in the state of Michigan and is a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) or a Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CAADC).

Preferred Education/Certification/Licensure

  • Certification in an evidence-based practice or treatment model such as DBT, or CBT, or EMDR.
