Job summary

Coastal Horizons Center, Inc. is seeking a Therapist-Rape Crisis Center to deliver trauma-informed clinical services to survivors of sexual violence and their families.

The role includes conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, and coordinating with community partners in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. The position emphasizes crisis intervention, outreach, and supervision of interns while maintaining ethical confidentiality and adherence to grant reporting requirements.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in social work required.
  • Full licensure or provisional licensure accepted (LCSW/LCSWA, LCMHC/LCMHCA, and LPA).
  • Two (2) years of experience counseling victims in a clinical setting or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide short and longer term specialized clinical services to victims of sexual violence and their loved ones.
  • Conduct Comprehensive Clinical Assessments using evidence-based modalities (CBT, TF-CBT, EMDR, CPT).
  • Develop and conduct specialized therapy groups for RCC clients and oversee support groups.
  • Provide training to staff and volunteers on mental health topics.
  • Participate in 24-hour crisis intervention as needed and handle grant reporting requirements.

JOB TITLE: Therapist-Rape Crisis Center

  • 1 Fully Licensed Therapist
  • 1 Provisionally Licensed Therapist
REQUIRED EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in social work.
  • Full licensure or provisional licensure accepted (LCSW/LCSWA, LCMHC/LCMHCA, and LPA)
  • Two (2) years of experience in counseling or working with victims in a clinical setting.
OR
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.
SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Provides short and longer term specialized clinical services to victims of sexual violence and their loved ones. Conducts Comprehensive Clinical Assessments and treats symptoms of trauma utilizing evidence based treatment modalities, such as CBT, TF-CBT, EMDR, and CPT. Develops and conducts specialized therapy groups for RCC clients. Oversees the development and implementation of RCC support groups. Develops outreach materials and implements outreach programs specific to clinical services. Provides training to staff and volunteers related to mental health. Oversees clinical interns and ensures they are properly trained. Participates with other program staff to provide “on-call” 24-hour crisis intervention services, as needed. Also completes required reporting documentation for grant funders on the federal, state, and local level. Represents program on community boards, committees and organizations. 40 Hours/Week Full Time.

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS:
  • Provides crisis intervention and trauma informed psychotherapy for victims of sexual abuse/assault and/or domestic violence and their family members
  • Develops and implements group therapy sessions and oversees the implementation of support groups
  • Conducts Comprehensive Clinical Assessments, including using assessment tools.
  • Develops and implements clinical treatment plans.
  • Coordinates with other treatment providers, in addition to other involved agencies, as appropriate.
  • Provides consultation and training to staff, volunteers, and community professionals as requested.
  • Develops and presents clinically specific outreach programs to victims in the community.
  • Interviews, hires, and oversees clinical interns and ensures they are properly trained.
  • Performs related duties as required.
  • Subject to the OSHA rules and regulations on blood borne pathogens due to the possible exposure to various body fluids.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
  • Considerable knowledge of crisis counseling methods and techniques specifically dealing with sexual assault victims.
  • Considerable working knowledge of evidenced based practices such as TF-CBT, CBT, MI, DBT, etc.
  • Considerable knowledge of laws and legal aspects dealing with and governing cases of sexual assault and domestic violence.
  • General knowledge of the community and referral services and programs which work with underserved clients.
  • General knowledge of different therapeutic approaches, group dynamics, and crisis intervention for victims of sexual assault/abuse and domestic violence.
  • Skill in establishing rapport with victims, law enforcement officers, judicial officials, and community and state agencies.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person in written and oral form, as well as maintain and uphold appropriate and ethical confidentiality standards.
  • Ability to complete grant reports in a timely manner.
  • Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, as well as plan and execute work effectively.
  • Ability to practice effectively within ethical boundaries.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, volunteers, supervisors, and the general public.
  • Willingness to be on call and available to victims at flexible times and days.
  • Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of stooping, climbing, reaching, walking, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, and performing repetitive motions.
  • Must be able to perform light work exerting up to twenty (20) pounds of force occasionally, up to ten (10) pounds frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
  • Must possess the visual acuity to prepare and analyze records and information, observe victim behaviors, do extensive reading and make appropriate documentation of work performed.
