Job summary

Palo Verde Behavioral Health Hospital in Tucson, AZ seeks Masters or Doctoral level clinicians/social workers for PRN inpatient therapy to coordinate care and provide therapeutic treatment in an 84-bed setting.   • Masters or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Psychology, Professional Counseling or related degree.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in mental health.
  • Preferred Licensure in area of specialty or actively pursuing and near licensure.
  • Must be certified in CPR on hire and periodically thereafter; Handle With Care training within 30 days.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate care with referral sources and involved professionals in an inpatient setting.
  • Maintain regular communication with involved professionals and family members.
  • Return calls to professionals and family in a timely manner.
  • Encourage patients to participate in group therapy, treatment planning and discharge planning.
  • Educate and provide patients with community resources to aid in recovery.
  • Follow Palo Verde policies, safety practices and HIPAA guidelines.
  • Assist with documentation and utilization management; group notes where applicable.
  • Note: Individual therapy is not provided in the inpatient setting.

Palo Verde Behavioral Health Hospital provides comprehensive behavioral healthcare for children, adolescents, adults, and senior adults suffering from mental health and addictive illnesses. PVBH is an 84 bed, short-term, acute care hospital offering inpatient, partial and intensive outpatient hospitalization, as well as specialized treatment programs for chemical dependency. PVBH has an excellent reputation as an innovative hospital with caring, dedicated staff, experienced in the delivery of behavioral healthcare. Situated in Tucson, AZ, at the base of the Catalina Foothills, PVBH is minutes to Saguaro National Park and the University of Arizona.

Job Duties Include
  • Coordinate care with referral sources and other involved professionals including, but not limited to daily interdisciplinary team meetings, obtaining follow-up appointments, completing urgent engagements, facilitating Adult Recovery Team meetings.
  • Maintain and documentation of regular communication with involved professionals and family members as appropriate.
  • Return phone calls to professionals and family in a timely manner.
  • Encourage patients to participate fully in all aspects of the treatment program including group therapy, treatment planning, and discharge planning.
  • Educate and provide patients with community resources to aid in/facilitate recovery.
  • Follow safety practices as outlined in Palo Verde Behavioral Health policies and procedures.
  • Follow the protocol and guidelines of the inpatient program and other formal treatment programs. Adherence to HIPAA required.
  • Help patients benefit from their insurance by timely completion of all paperwork, returning phone calls, and actively participating in utilization management.
  • Facilitate therapeutic groups and complete group notes. *Individual therapy not provided in the inpatient setting.
Qualifications

Education: Masters or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Psychology, Professional Counseling or related degree

Experience: Minimum of 2 years’ experience in mental health

Licensure/Certification: Preferred Licensure in area of specialty or actively pursuing and near licensure.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Must be certified in CPR upon hire and bi-annually thereafter and must possess or obtain and be able to perform Handle With Care within 30 days of hire and re-certify as needed. Must complete all required mandatory in-services annually. Must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card or the ability to obtain. Must be tested for Tuberculosis with a PPD skin test or chest x-ray upon hire and as required thereafter.
