Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

RiseBoro’s Functional Family Therapy - Adult program is a therapeutic model that operates within its Clinical Services unit and is a strength-based, evidence-informed, culturally responsive intervention program that, at its core, aims to reduce community and interpersonal violence by engaging people in a change process that nurtures hope and strengthens relationships. Special attention is paid to interfamilial and extrafamilial factors, and how they present within and influence therapeutic processes. The Therapist is an integral part of successful treatment. Specific duties and responsibilities include:

  • Carry a caseload as assigned
  • Provide weekly one-hour, home-based, virtual, or office family therapy sessions to clients, at a minimum
  • Actively participate as part of the therapy team
  • Complete formalized FFT-A assessments
  • Refer families to appropriate services and supports regularly
  • Provide families with both clinical and concrete services
  • Perform the basic accountability tasks related to the job, which include compiling and maintaining all necessary records
  • Attend all FFT-A training sessions and supplemental continuing education modules with fidelity by integrating required data management system into service delivery decisions
  • Provide supervision to assigned Case Managers along with the Program Supervisor
  • Provide life skills classes
  • Collect information for program effectiveness along with administrative staff
  • Perform other related duties as requested by direct supervisor or Clinical Director
COMPETENCIES
  • Ability and willingness to work with families in their own homes
  • Flexibility to work when the families are available to meet; ability to work non-traditional and flexible work hours to include being available for weekend, evening or other appointment times with families
  • Ability to work independently, as well as contribute to a team
  • Very good interpersonal/communication skills
  • Bilingual Spanish preferred
  • Strong clinical skills
  • Ability to internalize and work within the FFT-A philosophy and model
  • Expertise in working with young adults, 19 – 27 years of age preferred
  • Ability to work with respect for cultural diversity
  • Ability to engage families who may not want the service
  • Ability to adapt and individualize program interventions to utilize family strengths and skills
  • Commitment to empowering families to solve their own problems
  • Belief in the capacity of people to grow and change
  • Ability to establish a mutually respectful relationship, in which the family is a full partner, empowered to solve their own problems
  • Ability to intervene decisively, when necessary, to protect family members
  • Ability to set appropriate boundaries and limits for best practice

  • Ability to understand the concepts of institutional and structural racism and bias and their impact on underserved and underrepresented communities
  • Have a demonstrated commitment to supporting communities who have experienced systemic oppression and bias (e.g. people of color, LGBTQ+ people, immigrants, justice involved persons, etc.)
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
  • Master’s degree in social work, counseling, mental health, or other relevant human service profession required, with two (2) years of experience in children and family services
