Job summary

Acenda Health in Glassboro, NJ is seeking a Therapist FFS/PT to provide counseling and mental health services, including evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of mental illness. You will work within an integrated health organization guided by evidence-based practice.

The role requires maintaining an active caseload, developing and monitoring treatment plans, and coordinating with other providers to support client progress.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in counseling or related field.
• One or more years of direct care experience.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
• Ability to exercise independent thinking and sound judgment under all circumstances.
• Ability to analyze work, set goals, develop plans and use time effectively.

Responsibilities

• Provide counseling including relationship, premarital, separation, divorce, and child counseling services.
• Gather and analyze information via interviews, inventories and assessments.
• Identify problematic behavioral and relational patterns.
• Monitor treatment plan adherence and progress with clients.
• Facilitate referrals and access to appropriate treatment.
• Maintain an active caseload and timely documentation.

Position Summary:

The Therapist will offer counseling and mental health services. Services may include evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of mental illness and other psychological issues. As an integrated health organization, Acenda values the use of evidence-based practice or EBP’s.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• May provide counseling including relationship, premarital, separation, divorce, and child counseling services
• Gathers and analyzes information through a variety of methods that may include observation, interviews, self-report inventories, group discussions, and/or formal assessments
• Identifies problematic behavioral, communication, and relationship patterns
• Partner with clients to monitor adherence to their treatment plan, evaluate effectiveness, monitor progress in a timely manner, and facilitate changes as required
• Facilitate client linkages, referrals and access to appropriate treatment, community
• supports and medical or specialty providers according to the treatment plan
• Maintain an active caseload
• Develops and maintains accurate records, reports and chart documentation in a complete and timely manner according to program guidelines and established procedures
• Ensures quality and accuracy of written and verbal communications
• Support the Quality/Compliance/Risk function as required
• Drafts and submits necessary paperwork to insurance companies
• Maintains compliance with ethical codes and standards
• Performs other related duties as assigned

  • Substance Use Disorder Programs
    • Establishes rapport, gathers clinical data, assesses readiness for treatment; and applies criteria for diagnosis
    • Screens for psychoactive substance toxicity, intoxication, withdrawal symptoms, co-occurring mental health conditions, and risk of harm to self or others.
    • Interprets screening results to determine treatment priorities

    • Demonstrates knowledge of age-appropriate developmental milestones.
    • Formulates measurable, individualized treatment goals and objectives.
  • Housing Support Services for Homeless Clients
    • Applies evidence-based or accepted case management practices.

Education, Work Experience and/or Skills Requirements:

• Bachelors/Master’s degree in counseling, marriage and family therapy, psychology or similar degree (dependent on program)
• One or more years of experience providing direct care
• Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
• Must be able to exercise independent thinking and good judgment under all circumstances.
• Must be able to analyze work, set goals, develop plans, and utilize time effectively and efficiently.

Physical Requirements:

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to remain in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
• Repeated motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers
• The employee must occasionally move about to accomplish tasks, adjust or move objects up to 20 pounds.
• Must be able to communicate with others to exchange information
• Ability to drive a vehicle
