• CURRENT HOURS AND STARTING TIME: Full-time (40 hours per week) position. This position will work various shifts. No weekends or holidays.

General Summary

Under direction, conducts screenings, intake assessments, and case management services within a Person-Centered Planning approach to adult mentally ill, adult developmentally disabled, and children with serious emotional disturbance as a Co-responder unit with local law enforcement. Provides crisis services and referrals for ongoing services within Macomb County Community Mental Health (MCCMH) and partners. Coordinates, consults, and provides liaison work with other law enforcement agencies and systems. Ensures service authorizations are current. Implements program goals and activities.

Responsibilities

• Partners with the Macomb County Sheriff's Office to provide behavioral health support and crisis intervention services to individuals experiencing mental health and substance use challenges.
• Conducts assessments and interventions for individuals experiencing mental health and substance use crises.
• Provides crisis stabilization, outreach, engagement, and referral services.
• Works alongside law enforcement to identify appropriate behavioral health interventions and community-based solutions.
• Utilizes motivational interviewing and recovery-oriented practices to engage individuals in treatment.
• Coordinates transitions to appropriate levels of care and community resources.
• Supports individuals with serious mental illness, substance use disorders, and co-occurring conditions.
• Maintains accurate documentation and data collection in compliance with contractual, licensing, and accreditation standards.
• Assists in reducing recidivism and improving access to behavioral healthcare services.
• Provides time-limited case management services to assist persons served in obtaining necessary services and coordinates those services until the person served is transitioned to a service provider.
• Coordinates with the MCCMH direct Mobile Crisis Teams (children and adults) for any follow-up care and support that those teams can provide the next day.
• Maintains accurate clinical documentation, including assessments, progress notes, treatment plans, and other required documentation.
• Requests authorizations for services provided, monitors service utilization, and requests reauthorizations or continuations as needed.
• Serves on community mental health or community-based committees.
• Supervises department interns as needed.
• Participates in an on-call rotation, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Operates an automobile to perform assigned job functions.
• Performs related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Required Education and Experience: Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or Doctorate in Psychology or a directly related mental health field.
• Two (2) years of clinical experience working in a mental health setting.
• One (1) year of experience working with justice-involved or crisis services.
• Preferred Education and Experience: Previous community mental health experience with children, adolescents, or adults.
• Knowledge of the Macomb County Provider Network.
• Experience working with individuals experiencing crisis, serious mental illness, substance use disorders, or co-occurring disorders.

Required Licenses or Certifications

• Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), Limited Licensed Master of Social Work (LLMSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Limited License Professional Counselor (LLPC), Masters Limited Psychologist (LLP), Temporary Limited Licensed Psychologist (TLLP), or Licensed Psychologist (LP).
• Possession of required state licensure appropriate to position and ability to meet privileging and credentialing guidelines.
• Possession of a valid Michigan driver’s license and operable, insured automobile for authorized travel.

Preferred Licenses or Certifications

• Certification with the Michigan Certification Board for Addiction Professionals (MCBAP) or an approved development plan.
