Job summary

Community Mental Health Affiliates, Inc. (CMHA) is seeking a part-time Therapist Assistant for MDFT TAY CT TREE to support youth and families in home, office, and community settings.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in social work or human services, 1 year of relevant experience, and a CT driver’s license. You will work with a treatment team, perform crisis interventions, and contribute to documentation and evaluation efforts.

  • Bachelor’s in social work or human services required.
  • Valid CT driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.
  • 1 year of experience with adolescents with substance abuse/behavioral health problems.

Responsibilities

  • Establish trusting, supportive relationships with families during home visits, office or crisis times.
  • Collaborate with the assigned clinician to assist youth and families and treatment team members.
  • Maintain caseload per agency and funder; provide 24/7 crisis coverage as needed.
  • Document and collect data for MDFT fidelity monitoring and program evaluation.
  • Engage clients in treatment plans, including involvement, drug testing, and MDFT model activities.
  • Build collaborative relationships with schools, courts, hospitals, DCF, probation, and other agencies.

This position will be located at 255 Bank St. Waterbury, CT.Compensation Range: The starting salary for this position starts at $20.00 per hour.Compensation for each position is determined not only by years of relevant experience, education, and skills, but also by maintaining internal pay equity. CMHA also takes into consideration our benefits and paid time-off package to provide a well-rounded and competitive approach to the applicant’s overall compensation.Summary: Serve as a key member of the Multi-Dimensional Family Therapy (MDFT) treatment team, which will provide treatment for youth/young adults and parents with substance abuse and co-occurring disorders both in home, in office, and community settings.Essential Responsibilities and Target Outcomes:•Establish a trusting supportive relationship with family members through direct contact in the context of home visits, phone contacts and assistance in times of crisis.•Work as part of the treatment team with the assigned clinician, providing assistance to both youth, families, and treatment team members.•Maintains appropriate caseload as determined by agency and funder. Provides crisis intervention to family in the home, office or community if need arises. This includes on‐call 24/7 coverage of families on caseload.•Adhering to documentation requirements and data collection/entry related to MDFT fidelity monitoring and project evaluation efforts.•Engages clients in treatment plan interventions, particularly around clinical involvement, drug testing and activities that will help to support the MDFT model of treatment.•Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with other community agencies and organizations, in order to provide comprehensive and effective treatment services for clients (i.e., schools, courts, hospitals, after school programs, DCF, probation, detox/ residential substance abuse treatment facilities, etc.).•Performs other related duties as assigned.Education: Bachelor’s in social work/human service. Exceptions to education level may apply based on contract requirements and approval from contract holder.Credentials and Licenses: Valid CT driver’s license and ability to provide own transportation.Experience:•Minimum of 1 year of experience working with adolescents with substance abuse/behavioral health problems.•Beginner to intermediate experience with Microsoft Office products including Word and Outlook.• Experience in, or the ability to learn how to use an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system which includes appointment scheduling, authorization tracking, assessments, treatment plans, progress notes and discharge summaries.Competencies: Behavioral Skill Sets:•Effective interpersonal skills, ability to problem solve, use good judgment and work independently.•Flexibility and ability to adapt creatively to stressful situations.•Awareness/sensitivity to all types of issues related to client diversity.•Strong organizational abilities and verbal and written communication skills.•Ability to ensure the security and confidentiality of client information and records in a manner consistent with professional and CMHA codes of ethics.We care about our employees by offering benefits that strike a harmonious work-life balance.
