Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology or related behavioral health field.
  • Professional licensure or eligibility (LCSW/LMFT/LPC or equivalent).
  • Experience delivering individual and group therapy to youth, including homeless/at-risk populations.
  • Trauma-informed, strengths-based, culturally responsive approaches.
  • Strong assessment, treatment planning, crisis intervention, and safety planning.

Responsibilities

Job description

Eddy House is a dedicated center serving homeless, runaway, foster, and other at-risk youth in Northern Nevada. As the region’s central intake and assessment facility, Eddy House connects young people to essential resources including food, clothing, hygiene items, and a safe daytime environment. The organization provides counseling services, workforce development, life skills groups, health care services, and additional supportive programs. Its new 24-hour facility offers secure overnight accommodations for youth experiencing homelessness. Eddy House’s core mission is to end youth homelessness in Northern Nevada by providing comprehensive, youth-centered support.

Role Description

The Therapist is a full-time, on-site role based in Reno, NV, providing direct therapeutic services to youth experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness. This role includes conducting clinical assessments, developing individualized treatment plans, and facilitating one-on-one and group counseling sessions focused on trauma, crisis intervention, and life skills. The Therapist collaborates closely with case managers, program staff, and external partners to coordinate care, support workforce development, and connect youth to appropriate community resources. Daily responsibilities also include maintaining accurate clinical documentation, participating in interdisciplinary team meetings, and contributing to program development to enhance mental health and wellness services. The role requires a strong commitment to trauma-informed care, youth empowerment, and culturally responsive, non-judgmental support.

Qualifications
  • Professional licensure or eligibility (e.g., LCSW, LMFT, LPC, or equivalent) and a master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related behavioral health field.
  • Experience providing individual and group therapy to adolescents and young adults, preferably in high-risk or homeless youth populations.
  • Demonstrated ability to use trauma-informed, strengths-based, and culturally responsive therapeutic approaches.
  • Strong skills in clinical assessment, treatment planning, crisis intervention, and safety planning.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills, with proficiency in maintaining confidential electronic health records.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment and build trusting relationships with youth and community partners.
  • Familiarity with community resources, social services, and systems affecting foster, runaway, and homeless youth.
  • Comfort working on-site in a 24-hour program environment and adapting to changing youth needs and program priorities.
  • CPR/First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain, and completion of required background checks.
  • Bilingual or multilingual abilities are a plus.
