Qualifications

  • Licensed or registered to provide chemical dependency counseling with at least two years of group, individual and family education.
  • Master's level licensure in LMHC/LMFT/LCSW/AMFT preferred.
  • California driver’s license and ability to drive program vehicle.
  • Experience with education on chemical and alcohol dependency and abuse.
  • Ability to communicate and work well with diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains timely notes and documentation within 24 hours of sessions.

Job description

The Therapist is responsible for assessing and monitoring client behavior while in treatment for chemical and alcohol abuse and dependency. In collaboration with the Clinical Director and President, the Therapist is responsible for documenting client behavior, group participation and counseling; caring for clients, and coordinating treatment and discharge planning. Therapist will also be providing crisis management, counseling, group therapies and education for the clients and family/significant others in a therapeutic milieu setting.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides assessments and participates in the treatment planning with clients and their families/significant others.
  • Interviews clients to obtain information concerning social history, treatment and other pertinent information.
  • Observes clients to detect indications of abnormal physical or mental behavior.
  • Reviews results of tests given by psychologists to evaluate clients' needs.
  • Changes method and degree of therapy when indicated by client reactions/needs.
  • Discusses progress toward goals with clients such as medication regiment, family relationships, educational Executive s, social development, discharge plans or other behavioral problems.
  • Plans and administers therapeutic treatment, behavior modification, and stress management therapy to assist clients in developing/displaying appropriate behaviors. Completes and maintains individual and group counseling notes and documentation within 24 hours following the treatment session excluding weekends and holidays.
  • Develops and implements appropriate discharge planning with client, family, and placing agency.
  • Develops and maintains positive relationship with external customers, families and clients and employees.
  • Assists Clinical Director in the coordination of services to clients.
  • Assist and facilitate discharge planning and community outreach.
  • Initiates, facilitates and promotes on-site activities, therapeutic support and educational groups, outings and community meetings and documents on these in the client's chart.
  • Provides education for clients and significant others.
  • Respond to emergencies and initiates action as required.
  • Records significant events involving client's activities in the daily record.
  • Responds to client complaints.
  • Attends and participates in staff meetings and training.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Licensed, Certified or Registered to obtain the AOD to provide chemical dependency or other counseling services with at least two years experience providing group, individual and family/significant other education and group therapy.
  • Master's Level Therapist: LMHC, LMFT, LCSW, AMFT
  • California State Driver's License and ability to drive program vehicle.
  • Experience with education of chemical and alcohol dependency and abuse.
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with people from various backgrounds.
