Job summary

BrightView is seeking a Counselor I to provide therapy for patients with Substance Use Disorders, including individual and group sessions, intake assessments, and treatment planning. You will work with a multidisciplinary team to coordinate care and support patients on their recovery journey.

The role requires active licensure, a Master's degree, and excellent communication skills. You will document in the electronic health record and contribute to onboarding and training at the site.

Job description

• Provide primarily independent therapy sessions for patients diagnosed with Substance Use Disorders
• Plan and conduct group therapy sessions and patient intake assessments according to clinic needs and scientific best-practice guidelines
• Provide individual counseling sessions as appropriate
• Assist with treatment planning and review progress toward treatment plan goals
• Coordinate patient care with the onsite multidisciplinary team
• Carry and effectively manage a patient caseload
• Timely and comprehensively document treatment data in the electronic patient health record
• Ensure adherence to regulatory and company compliance requirements
• Attend required onsite staff meetings, individual and group supervision, multidisciplinary team meetings, and quarterly in-service meetings
• Provide occasional training and onboarding support for new Counselor I hires
• Provide training, onboarding, and mentorship support for new hire counselors within the site or adjacent clinics

Requirements

• Active clinical licensure consistent with state-level regulatory requirements, at minimum independently licensed
• Masters degree
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Highly empathetic and compassionate to effectively support the recovery journey of BrightView’s patients
• Competent at working with a diverse population of colleagues and patients
• Natural problem solver, looking for solutions to best meet patient needs with a sense of urgency
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary healthcare environment
• Adaptability within a dynamic work environment
• Technologically capable and comfortable operating in multiple systems for communication and documentation
• Familiarity with MS Office software (Outlook, Teams, Word, etc.) preferred
• Familiarity with HIPAA and 42-CFR Part 2 desired
• Prior experience with harm reduction a plus
