Job summary

University Health KC is seeking a PRN Therapeutic Support Specialist for a cross-town group home in Kansas City, MO. You will engage residents in activities, teach life skills, and support daily routines in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent (no college degree required).
• Heartsavers CPR Certification: Must obtain Heartsavers CPR certification within 90 days of hire and maintain it for continued employment.
• Level 1 Medication Aide (LIMA) Licensure: Complete the licensure course and exam within the first 90 days of employment. Certification must remain current per the Missouri DHSS.
• Driver's License: Valid Class E Missouri or Kansas license; able to operate a 15-passenger van within 3 months.
• Family Care Registry Clearance: Clear the Family Care Registry background check.
• Training: Complete all required training as oriented by leadership within timelines.
• Be available to pick up shifts with two hours' notice most times.
• Pick up a minimum of 24 hours of shifts each month (shifts are 4, 8, and 12 hours).

Qualifications

We are looking for passionate, dedicated individuals who meet the following minimum qualifications and can contribute to a supportive environment for our residents:

Minimum Requirements

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent (no college degree required).
• Heartsavers CPR Certification: Must obtain Heartsavers CPR certification within 90 days of hire and maintain it for continued employment.
• Level 1 Medication Aide (LIMA) Licensure: Complete the licensure course and exam within the first 90 days of employment. Certification must remain current per the Missouri Department of Health & Senior Services (DHSS).
• Driver's License: Obtain a valid Class E Missouri or Kansas driver's license. Must be comfortable and competent operating a 15-passenger van within 3 months of employment and obey all traffic laws while on duty.
• Family Care Registry Clearance: Successfully clear the Family Care Registry background check.
• Training: Complete all required training as outlined during orientation and by leadership within established timelines for continued employment.
• Be available to pick up shifts with two hours' notice more times than not
• Pick up a minimum of 24 hours of shifts each month (shifts are 4, 8, and 12 hours).

Preferred Qualifications

• Lived Experience: Personal lived experience with recovery from mental health or substance use disorders is valued in our setting.
• Patient Care Experience: Preference for candidates with documented experience assisting patients with activities of daily living (e.g. home health or residential experience).
• Mental Health Experience: Prior experience in a mental health care setting is highly valued.
