Job summary

Easterseals Academy in Chicago seeks a Paraprofessional to support students with autism spectrum disorder, emotional disability, developmental delay, or intellectual disability. You will implement IEP-based activities, ensure student safety, and actively participate in all class schedules.

The role includes following crisis prevention protocols, data collection, and ongoing collaboration with the student’s team and families.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform all functions necessary to obtain and maintain certification in agency required crisis prevention and intervention training, and CPR.
• Ability to multi-task in a high-stress environment while maintaining professional behavior.
• Ability to communicate professionally and demonstrate respect for all staff members.

Responsibilities

• Follow through with activities, materials, and prompting hierarchies across all settings in alignment with the assigned student’s IEP.
• Prioritize and complete tasks with maximum follow-through.
• Collect daily data for assigned student related to behavior plans and communication systems.
• Adhere to all aspects of Active Supervision and approved crisis prevention techniques.
• Communicate with families/guardians as directed by the classroom teacher.
• Maintain confidentiality and dignity of students at all times.
