Job summary

Universal Health Services is seeking a Recreational Therapist Manager to lead our therapeutic recreation programs and oversee a multidisciplinary team. The role focuses on program development, patient assessment, and evidence-based activities spanning music, dance, art, yoga, swimming, and equine therapy.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s in Therapeutic Recreation, 5+ years of mental health program experience, and licensure (CTRS, art, or music therapy), plus a Nevada driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in providing recreational programming in mental health preferred.
• Must have licensure in specialty (CTRS, art therapy or music therapy).
• Must maintain a valid Nevada driver’s license. BLS and Handle with Care certifications required.
• HIPAA-compliant medical documentation practices.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and evaluate comprehensive recreational therapy programs for patients ages 6-17.
• Lead and supervise a team of recreational therapists and activity coordinators; provide mentorship and performance evaluations.
• Conduct patient assessments and develop personalized treatment plans using modalities like music, dance, art, yoga, swimming, and equine therapy.
• Coordinate with nursing, mental health professionals, case managers, and families to ensure holistic care.
• Oversee intake procedures and monitor progress with data collection and outcome measures.
• Utilize de-escalation techniques to maintain a safe environment for clients and staff.
• Advance program growth with new initiatives aligned with best practices in mental health and elder care.
