Apple Rehab Watertown is seeking a Recreation Assistant to support the therapeutic recreation program for residents. This part-time role offers 24 hours per week on weekdays, with supervision from the Director of Therapeutic Recreations.

Qualifications

• Minimum Requirements: Must have a vehicle and a valid drivers’ license and a safe driving record.
• Preferred Qualifications: Possess at least one year experience in rehabilitative or geriatric setting.

Responsibilities

• Working with the Director of Therapeutic Recreations, the Therapeutic Recreation Assistant assists in the development and execution of therapeutic recreational services to all residents with supervision in accordance with federal, state and local standards.
• Helps ensure the highest quality recreation program is provided.
• Assists in the development of a full range of therapeutic recreational programs and activities for all residents with appropriate concern for residents’ physical and emotional limitations, and individual interests.
• Ensures observance of religious days, social events, national holidays and traditional celebrations when planning residents’ calendar of events.
• Utilizes community support in establishing volunteer programs and intergenerational events.
• Encourages resident participation in therapeutic recreational activities. Carries out activities appropriate to the resident's level of functioning.
