Job summary

Encompass Health Corporation is seeking a Cook to prepare therapeutic and modified diets for patients in a hospital setting. You will apportion servings, follow menus and ensure portions meet specifications while focusing on taste, texture, temperature and appearance.

This role requires flexibility to work varied shifts in a healthcare kitchen. The position supports a caring, inclusive culture within a national inpatient rehabilitation leader known for accolades and a people-first approach.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of food safety guidelines (HACCP).
• Training in preparing foods for therapeutic diets.
• Experience with institutional cooking or special function cooking is desirable.
• Permit to handle food where required by state or county regulations.
• Willingness to work weekdays, weekends, evenings or nights as needed.

Responsibilities

• Apportion servings according to menu combinations or orders for patients.
• Follow menus, recipes, and oral instructions in the preparation of various foods.
• Serve appropriate portion sizes based on menu specifications.
• Plan timing of preparation of the food to ensure food satisfaction.
• Ensure satisfaction regarding taste, texture, temperature and appearance.
