Job summary

United Health Centers of the San Joaquin Valley is recruiting a Dietary Assistant to support our nutrition program in a community health setting in Fresno, CA. The role focuses on food service, texture modified and therapeutic diets, and ensuring safe handling, storage, and sanitation of meals for participants.

Responsibilities include assisting the Registered Dietitian, maintaining inventory, preparing and serving meals per dietary cards, and upholding food safety standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• CA Serv Safe and Food Handler certifications required.
• Ability to read, write, understand and speak English.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in food service or preparation.
• Ability to work in a team environment within dietary and health care teams.
• Prioritization skills in a fast-paced environment.
• CPR and First Aid certification within 180 days of hire preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Registered Dietitian in providing safe, therapeutic nutrition services.
• Update diet changes as directed by Registered Dietitians.
• Maintain storage standards for vendor food prior to meal service.
• Prepare and plate meals following dietary cards and special needs.
• Label, date and track perishable foods in refrigerators/freezers.
• Record inventory and place orders for replacements as needed.
• Ensure hot food is delivered at proper FDA temperatures and monitor temperatures.
