Job summary

Agave Ridge Behavioral Hospital seeks an experienced Activity Therapist to support patient-centered treatment plans through therapeutic recreation. You will plan, direct and implement activity therapy programs to aid recovery and improve well-being.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Therapeutic Recreation (Master’s preferred) and several years of healthcare recreation experience. Certification as CTRS or equivalent in expressive therapies is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Therapeutic Recreation or related field required.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• Three or more years’ experience in recreation in a healthcare setting required.
• CTRS certification or in process; or licensed/certified in expressive therapy area preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct and implement activity therapy programs as part of the patient’s treatment plan.
• Complete activity assessments through observation and interviews to tailor the treatment plan.
• Plan and implement activities including leisure skills, education, and awareness to support treatment goals.
• Facilitate and lead activity sessions to improve patient mental and physical well-being.
• Instruct patients in activities and techniques suited to individual needs.
• Develop treatment plans and interventions to meet patient needs and goals.
• Engage patients in therapeutic activities and community outings.
• Help patients learn social skills needed for independence.
• Modify activities to suit specific groups.
• Demonstrate a positive, empathetic and professional attitude at all times.
