Job summary

Qualifications

• Minimum bachelor’s degree in Music Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation, or master’s degree in Art Therapy.
• Previous healthcare experience in one of the above disciplines preferred.
• Must be certified by profession’s credentialing board; CPR and CPI certifications required.

Responsibilities

• Plan and lead therapeutic recreation and activity-based interventions that support patient treatment goals.
• Complete patient assessments, maintain documentation, and ensure timely recordkeeping.
• Facilitate therapeutic groups using engagement and group-processing techniques.
• Build therapeutic relationships with patients while promoting patient rights, safety, and well-being.
• Communicate patient progress, concerns, and incidents to the interdisciplinary treatment team.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and therapeutic environment, including monitoring equipment and supplies.
• Collaborate with staff, patients, and families to support recovery and positive patient outcomes.
• Participate in program development, performance improvement initiatives, staff meetings, and ongoing training.
• Adhere to all facility policies, unit protocols, and regulatory requirements.
