This is an educational opportunity for the selected candidates to contribute to cutting-edge scientific research and to learn new skills and areas. We are looking for candidates to join our team in Los Alamos National Laboratory's Theoretical Division (T-Division), in the T-6 group. T-Division provides a unique and engaging environment that fosters multi-disciplinary collaborations to support the laboratory's strategic basic research and national security missions. Theoretical Biology and Biophysics (T-6) focuses on modeling biological systems ranging from macromolecules to populations and the analysis and integration of heterogeneous biological data. T-6 is the oldest theoretical biology group in the world devoted to mathematical modeling and computational analysis of problems in biology, medicine, and biosecurity.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

• Enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program in Biology, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Physics, or other relevant STEM disciplines.
• A minimum 2.75 out of 4.0 GPA

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience in one or more of the following topical areas:
• Computer programming (Python, C++, etc.) in support of scientific or engineering applications;
• Application of mathematical methods to develop models of physical phenomena;
• Familiarity with scientific research methods and data demonstrated by completed coursework in the natural sciences;
• Familiarity with computational research in applications such as computational biology, artificial intelligence, or machine learning;
• Ability to communicate (verbal and written) well in a professional scientific context.

Work Location

The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
