The UBCFA at the University at Buffalo, part of the Arts Sciences, is seeking a Theatrical Production Technician to join our team. This early‑career, hands‑on position is ideal for individuals with a foundational understanding of video projection who are eager to grow their technical skills in a dynamic and supportive environment.
The CFA hosts a wide range of performances, productions, and events —spanning national tours, campus performances, academic programs, and community events. No two days are the same, offering valuable opportunities to learn and grow in a supportive team environment.
The Theatrical Production Technician plays a key role in the technical execution of events, with a primary focus audio reinforcement, video projection, and multimedia systems. Responsibilities include the setup, operation, troubleshooting, and strike of audio‑visual equipment, projection systems, digital playback systems, and multimedia technologies, while also assisting with lighting and general theatrical support as needed. Working closely with the Technical Director and production team, the technician helps ensure events run smoothly and safely, while also guiding student workers and over hire crews in effective production practices.
