PAID THEATRE DIRECTOR WANTED — KALAMAZOO/PORTAGE

Seeking a director for The Harem Conspiracy, a historical courtroom production about the conspiracy against Egyptian pharaoh Ramesses III, written and presented by an Egyptologist.

Performance dates: February 6, 13, and 20, 2027

Compensation: $1,500–$2,000 total, depending on agreed responsibilities and performance-day attendance.

ABOUT THE PRODUCTION

The script is complete and the venue is secured. The production combines six live performers with prerecorded audiovisual segments. Live scenes center on short monologues, with minimal blocking: performers move from their seats at a table to a podium and return afterward. There is no choreography or elaborate scene changing.

DIRECTOR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Organize auditions and cast the available acting roles.
• Schedule and lead rehearsals.
• Coach characterization, delivery, and pacing.
• Establish simple blocking and coordinate transitions with the A/V operator.
• Lead a full technical/dress rehearsal.
• Provide performance-day oversight as agreed.

Rehearsals will take place locally between casting and February, with the schedule established collaboratively. Multiple performances are planned for each performance Saturday.
