Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking an experienced Hotel Engineering Leader to ensure the property remains in top operating condition and compliant with Engineering standards. You will supervise a team, conduct rigorous maintenance reviews, and drive the preventive maintenance program across Rooms and Public Areas.

The role requires strong reading of blueprints, facility systems knowledge, and flexible scheduling including nights and weekends to support guest experiences.

Qualifications

  • HVAC, electrical, plumbing, commercial kitchen and general building construction experience required.
  • Vocational training, associate's degree or certification in one or more area; state certification or licensure where required.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, diagrams and blueprints; read and understand test equipment and measuring devices.
  • Strong business communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Flexible to work varying schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the hotel operates in great order and meets all Engineering Department standards.
  • Conduct walk-throughs and assess maintenance and operation of hotel structure, systems and equipment.
  • Manage the Preventive Maintenance Program for Rooms and Public Areas and keep records updated.
  • Collaborate with hotel management team and the General Manager.
  • Hire, train, supervise, coach and counsel associates, including managers.
  • Ensure grounds are maintained to provide a great arrival experience.
  • Implement safety and emergency policies and procedures (OSHA HazCom, evacuations, first aid) and address hazards.

Job description

What you will be doing
  • Making sure the hotel is in great working order! Works to meet all operational standards related to the Engineering Department.
  • Conduct walk-throughs and assessment of maintenance and operation of the hotel structure, systems and equipment.
  • Responsible for Rooms and Public Area Preventive Maintenance Program and consistently keep updated records.
  • Works with all hotel management team and property General Manager.
  • Hire, train, supervise, coach and counsel associates, including managers.
  • Ensure grounds are maintained in order to provide great arrival experience.
  • Implement hotel's safety and emergency policies and procedures (i.e. evacuations, first aid, etc.) including removal of all safety hazards, following company's OSHA Hazcom program and safe lifting techniques.
  • Pay: $85,000.00
Qualifications
What we are looking for
  • Previous hotel engineering experience required, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, commercial kitchen and general building construction
  • Vocational training, associate's degree, certification and/or apprenticeship in one or more area; state certification or licensure where required
  • Must be able to read and interpret drawings, diagrams and blue prints. Read and understand test equipment and measuring devices
  • Strong business communication skills verbal and written
  • Flexible to work varying schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays

  • Physical Requirements (In-Office Role)
  • Occasional standing and walking throughout the workday.
  • Frequent fine motor skills, use of hands and fingers for keyboarding/typing, utilizing a mouse or trackpad, writing, and operating office equipment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, bend, reach, or carry items.
  • Ability to lift and/or move 10–25 pounds as needed (e.g., files, office supplies).
  • Visual ability to read from a computer screen and printed materials including close visual focus for extended periods and color differentiation (for certain roles).
  • Ability to hear and participate in conversations and meetings, use phone and/or headset
