  • Pursuing a degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline with a focus on security.
  • Basic understanding of cybersecurity concepts including network security, threat analysis and risk management.
  • Familiarity with security tools such as firewalls, IDS and endpoint protection solutions.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming or scripting language (Python/Java/JavaScript) with willingness to enhance security coding skills.
  • Experience with security software (Wireshark, Nmap, Metasploit, Splunk or ELK Stack) and antivirus tools.
  • Exposure to Windows and Linux operating systems and security configurations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with clear communication.
  • Proactive approach to learning and keeping up with cybersecurity trends.
  • Basic understanding of agile methodologies and modern delivery practices.
  • GPA 3.3+ preferred.

Responsibilities

The Cigna Group’s Technology Development Program (TECDP) Cyber‑Security Summer Internship

What You Will Do

Meaningful Role Work: Work within Cyber Security across both technical and investigative teams. You’ll contribute to threat detection, incident response, vulnerability management, and risk mitigation efforts that protect sensitive health data and critical infrastructure. Whether analyzing suspicious activity in a Security Operations Center (SOC), conducting forensic investigations, or engineering secure systems, you’ll gain hands‑on experience solving real‑world challenges that drive innovation and resilience across The Cigna Group.

Learning From Others: Engage with peers, mentors, and cross‑functional partners through community‑building activities and collaborative initiatives. Whether you’re supporting recruiting efforts, driving innovation, promoting community, or enhancing onboarding experiences, you’ll learn by doing and growing through shared knowledge.

Formal Education and Curriculum: Participate in structured learning through both core and track‑specific curriculum. This includes technical training, leadership development, and exposure to the business designed to support your growth as a well‑rounded technologist.

Community Building: Build meaningful relationships across the organization through networking events, mentorship, cross‑functional collaboration, or informal peer engagement. Develop strong relationships that support your personal and professional growth.

Qualifications
  • Must be currently pursuing a degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline, with a focus on security practices and principles.
  • Basic understanding of cybersecurity concepts, including network security, threat analysis, and risk management.
  • Familiarity with common security tools and technologies such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems (IDS), and endpoint protection solutions.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming or scripting language relevant to cybersecurity, such as Python, Java, or JavaScript, with a willingness to enhance coding skills for security applications.
  • Experience with security software and programs, such as Wireshark, Nmap, Metasploit, and Splunk or the ELK Stack, as well as antivirus/anti‑malware tools like McAfee and Symantec.
  • Exposure to operating systems (Windows and Linux) and an understanding of security configurations and vulnerabilities.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to think critically about security issues and potential solutions.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to diverse audiences.
  • Proactive attitude toward learning and keeping up with the latest trends and developments in cybersecurity.
  • Basic understanding of agile methodologies, such as Scrum, and familiarity with modern delivery practices, such as continuous integration and test‑driven development.
  • A GPA of 3.3 or higher is preferred.
Locations

The role requires a hybrid work schedule, with a minimum of three days per week working onsite (Tuesday, Wednesday, and one additional day of the employee’s choice), and the option to work the remaining days remotely. Employees must be able to meet the onsite schedule.

Program Schedule

You must be available to work a 40‑hour work week beginning May 24th, 2027. Working days are Monday – Friday.

Compensation

The anticipated hourly pay range for this role is $25.00 to $33.00 per hour. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as skills, education, experience, and location.

Work Authorization / Visa Sponsorship

One goal of this leadership development program is to prepare and identify qualified candidates for leadership roles with The Cigna Group upon program completion. Therefore, this position is open only to individuals who are eligible for employment in the United States and who do not now, or in the future, require visa sponsorship including, but not limited to, H‑1B, CPT/OPT/STEM.

Pre‑Employment Requirements

Selected candidates will be required to complete mandatory pre‑employment tasks approximately 45 days prior to the program’s start date. Completion of the drug test requires availability within the United States during this timeframe.

Pay Transparency Notice
