Job summary

FoodCorps in Texas seeks a motivated, highly organized professional to serve as the Texas Manager of Program Impact. You will lead a cohort of 6-8 FoodCorps members across 2-3 partner sites to advance nutrition education and nourishing meals in schools.

Reporting to the Director of Program Impact, you will recruit and coach members, foster strong site partnerships, travel statewide, and collaborate to expand FoodCorps' impact while ensuring program quality and accountability across districts.

FoodCorps partners with students, families, and communities to champion nourishing food at local, state, and national levels. What We Do:

Too many children go through the school day without the nutritious food they need to do and feel their best. FoodCorps sets students up for success by working with schools to provide nourishing meals, nutrition education, and community engagement through food. We get kids excited about eating fruits and veggies, support school nutrition staff in bringing locally grown and freshly prepared meals onto lunch trays, and work with families to create positive school food environments for all kids. FoodCorps' proven programming reaches thousands of students each year, helping to support kids' health, academic progress, and connection to their community through food in school.

What We're Looking For:

FoodCorps seeks a motivated, highly organized, dynamic, and passionate individual to serve in the full time role of Texas* Manager of Program Impact. This role reports to the Director of Program Impact, and plays a vital part in advancing FoodCorps' Logic Model and Theory of Change by leading program implementation and expansion in Texas.

The Texas MPI is responsible for managing a cohort of 6-8 FoodCorps members across 2-3 partner sites to provide programming that leads to positive outcomes for students and advances sustained, district-wide progress on food education and nourishing school meals. They build resilient relationships with site, school, and district staff to ensure members are set up for success and hold accountability to the programmatic goals of FoodCorps and our partners. The MPI leads FoodCorps member recruitment and selection for their state and provides the ongoing coaching and support to ensure that members deliver high-quality programming, while cultivating leadership skills that will serve them during and after their term with FoodCorps.

FoodCorps' partnership with Texas school districts works to advance each district's goals to provide nourishing school meals, expand student participation in school meal programs, increase student food literacy, and students' ability to make nutritious choices. The MPI is expected to support FoodCorps members in building out capacity for food education, procurement of local produce, conducting taste tests, and promoting school nutrition activities through newsletters and social media, and hosting family engagement events.

The Manager of Program Impact is expected to provide consistent and equitable in-person support to advance programmatic initiatives and build relationships with members across all sites. This position will require regular statewide travel to Texas based school districts and travel to national program events at least 2-4 times per year.

*Candidates based in San Antonio, Texas or Houston, Texas will be prioritized during this search.

Primary Responsibilities:

Program and Staff Management (40%)

• Lead and manage a cohort of 6-8 (currently 2) FoodCorps members across 2-3 partner sites to effectively implement programming that advances student outcomes and site level goals related to food education and nourishing school meals
• Cultivate and manage relationships with site supervisors, as well as district and school-based staff to align FoodCorps programming and FoodCorps member activities with the site’s goals
• Elevate FoodCorps member needs and challenges to national program staff including the Director of Program Impact to address challenges with site partnership and ensure proper support for members and alignment with agreed upon partnership expectations
• Effectively recruit and select a full cohort of effective FoodCorps members by collaborating with FoodCorps' national recruitment team and partner sites to develop a pipeline of strong, local candidates for each site

Coaching and Training (40%)

• Plan and conduct regular school and nutrition department site visits to observe, provide feedback, and assess the quality of FoodCorps program implementation
• Provide ongoing individual coaching in-person and virtually to FoodCorps members, applying FoodCorps tools and practices to ensure high quality programming and develop leadership skills
• Plan and facilitate high-quality place-based as well as collaborative regional training for the cohort to supplement national training and frameworks with content that is tailored to climate, culture, and program context

Storytelling and Data Collection (20%)

• Ensure accurate member and school-level reporting, information management, and data collection to support outreach and evaluation initiatives
• Additional responsibilities as needed.

Skills of the Ideal Candidate:

• Demonstrated experience as a facilitator or leading adult learning experiences
• Exceptional project management, organizational, and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple schedules, deadlines, and concurrent timelines
• Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills, with comfort collaborating with school based and diverse community partners
• Ability to give and receive constructive feedback, with a growth mindset
• Enthusiasm for FoodCorps' work, with interest or professional experience in food, health, education, and/or child nutrition
• Eagerness to work collaboratively with a close-knit, multi-skilled team

Measures of Success:

By the end of Year 1, the Texas Manager of Program Impact will have:

• Ensured all FoodCorps members are on track to fulfill programmatic requirements
• Conducted site observations including both formal and informal observations and feedback aligned with FoodCorps program requirements
• Retained and/or recruited strong FoodCorps members who demonstrate FoodCorps values and expectations for each available position
• Collaborated with the Director of Program Impact to refine multi-year goals for site partners and school districts that align with FoodCorps program expectations and requirements
• Contributed to team meetings by providing input that represents the perspectives of your state and site partnerships
• Gathered and shared stories of FoodCorps member activities that demonstrate FoodCorps' impact at the school and community level
