Job description

We are assisting an established law firm in its search for a Texas-licensed Attorney to support its civil litigation and creditors' rights practice. This opportunity is ideal for an attorney who enjoys being in the courtroom, independently handling hearings, and working toward effective case resolutions.

The position is heavily focused on courtroom appearances, with approximately four days per week spent attending hearings and other legal proceedings throughout an assigned territory. Attorneys are supported by an experienced legal and administrative team, allowing them to concentrate on courtroom representation, case management, and settlement negotiations.

Why Consider This Opportunity?
  • No billable hour requirements – Focus on case outcomes and effective representation rather than tracking billable time.

  • Competitive compensation – Base salary plus additional earning potential through attorney-negotiated settlements.

  • Extensive courtroom experience – Spend approximately four days per week representing clients in court and handling litigation matters.

  • Training and professional support – Resources available for attorneys interested in expanding their knowledge of collections and creditors' rights litigation.

  • Independence with team support – Manage assigned legal matters while working alongside experienced legal and administrative professionals.

  • Travel reimbursement – Business-related travel expenses for court appearances and other required proceedings are reimbursed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Represent clients in court hearings and legal proceedings throughout an assigned Texas territory, averaging approximately four days per week in court.

  • Independently handle courtroom appearances, present case information, and advocate for clients in civil litigation and collection-related matters.

  • Review and prepare pleadings, motions, discovery responses, and other necessary legal documentation.

  • Evaluate case details and determine appropriate strategies for litigation and resolution.

  • Negotiate settlements with opposing counsel, self-represented litigants, and other involved parties.

  • Oversee assigned cases and ensure matters progress efficiently through the litigation process.

  • Collaborate with clients, internal legal staff, and opposing counsel regarding case status and resolution.

  • Maintain accurate case records, meet court deadlines, and ensure compliance with applicable legal procedures.

Required Qualifications
  • Active license to practice law in Texas.

  • Strong understanding of civil litigation procedures and courtroom practices.

  • Ability to independently handle court appearances and manage multiple hearings.

  • Demonstrated skills in case evaluation, negotiation, and dispute resolution.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence presenting matters in court.

  • Strong organizational and time management abilities, including managing a high-volume caseload.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal technology or case management systems.

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with legal and administrative colleagues.

  • Sound legal judgment, strong analytical abilities, and attention to detail.

  • Commitment to professionalism, integrity, and responsive client service.

  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly within an assigned territory for court proceedings.
