Job summary

Ally is seeking a Risk Analyst in Detroit who will support Corporate Insurance within Enterprise Risk on a hybrid schedule. The role includes coordinating data requests for insurance submissions, analyzing risk data and industry trends, and developing reporting for senior leadership.

The candidate will assist in negotiation, construction, and maintenance of corporate insurance programs, monitor risk controls, and drive governance across policy adherence.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance/business.
  • 1+ years in financial services or insurance.
  • Certifications such as CPCU/ARM preferred.
  • Experience with testing or monitoring activities.
  • Strong communication with stakeholders.
  • MS Office proficiency and data analysis.

Responsibilities

Work Schedule:

Ally designates roles as (1) fully on-site, (2) hybrid, or (3) fully remote. Hybrid roles are generally expected to be in the office a certain number of days per week as indicated by your manager. The Opportunity

This role is located in our Detroit, MI office on a hybrid schedule, in office a few days weekly with some remote work. The qualified candidate will support the Corporate Insurance Department part of Enterprise Risk. Candidate will be coordinate data requests for insurance submissions, analyze risk data and industry trends, develop reporting for senior leadership and assist in the negotiation, construction and maintenance of corporate insurance programs

The Work Itself

Risk Assessment and Analysis

  • Engage directly with Business Line to understand business offerings, processes and procedures; work effectively with Business Line associates while maintaining independence necessary to fulfill IRM’s review and effective challenge responsibilities
  • Assist with identification of risks and develop strategy for sufficient mitigants and controls
  • Analyze data trends to detect irregularities in underwriting, claims, premium calcs., etc.
Process and Control Improvements
  • Maintain an understanding of Ally’s monitoring and testing approach, methodology and tools/technology
  • Test the design and effectiveness of internal controls and recommend enhancements
  • Identify opportunities to streamline monitoring processes through automation/PBI
  • Support initiatives to strengthen risk management frameworks
Issue Reporting and Resolution
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve issues and implement corrective actions
  • Validate issues to ensure the action plan effectively addresses the problem and provides a stable, long-term solution for remediation
  • Track reported tasks until resolution
Reporting and Documentation
  • Documenting findings from tests and monitor activities in clear and concise manner
  • Develop detailed reports for internal stakeholders
  • Provide recommendations for process improvements and/or procedural enhancements based on tests and findings
Governance
  • Monitor and drive Business Line adherence to enterprise policies and provide independent review and challenge of Business Line policies, standards and procedures
  • Support creation and implementation of Enterprise Insurance Risk Policy, and related standards, procedures, or committee charters
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelors (or higher) degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or other related field of study
  • 1+ years of relevant experience within the financial services and/or insurance industries preferred. Industry certification preferred (CPCU, ARM, etc.)
  • Experience performing testing and/or monitoring activities
  • Ability to interact with a variety of internal and external people in a professional manner that creates confidence in his/her knowledge and abilities and helps foster mutually satisfactory resolution to risk gaps and issues
  • Ability to make recommendations to maximize efficiency and effectiveness
  • Knowledge of and experience with developing and implementing risk management related processes
  • Familiarity with risk and control concepts
  • Excellent analytical and organizational ability
  • Ability to multi-task and adapt to a changing and developing environment
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • GRC – Tool Familiarity
Minimum Qualifications
  • 1+ years of experience
  • High school Diploma or GED equivalent

Base Pay Range

$55,000.00 - $95,000.00

An individual's position in the range is determined by the specific role, the scope and responsibilities of the role, work experience, education, certification(s), training, and additional qualifications. We review internal pay, the competitive market, and business environment prior to extending an offer.

Incentive Compensation
