Job summary

Collins Aerospace in Phoenix, AZ is seeking an Onsite Technician to join our engineering test and assembly teams. The role focuses on setting up test stands, performing electrical tests, and diagnosing electronic/electromechanical units to sub-assembly levels.

You will work with cross-functional teams, interpret engineering docs, and document results while prioritizing safety and quality. Training on first/second shift is provided before transitioning to third shift.

Qualifications

• Typically requires HS diploma (or equivalent, e.g. G.E.D. in the US) or vocational/technical education in related discipline with a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience
• Experience with electronics troubleshooting
• Experience with schematics or blueprints
• Experience with using multimeters, oscilloscope, and/or spectrum analyzer

Plans, assembles, disassembles, reworks and, performs engineering development and qualification tests on various aircraft components and systems. Analyzes and evaluates test results to verify that required parameters have been maintained.

What You Will Do

• Interacts with cross-functional groups, including Engineering and Manufacturing, to support routine technical activities and resolve production or testing issues.
• Sets up, configures, and operates test stands and test equipment; performs testing, interprets and records results, and identifies equipment failures.
• Uses diagnostic tools and electrical measurements to troubleshoot, evaluate, and repair electronic/electromechanical units to the sub‑assembly and component level.
• Reads and interprets technical documentation, including engineering drawings, schematics, component maintenance manuals, drawings, and work instructions.
• Performs troubleshooting, calibration, modification, and evaluation of hardware, fixtures, equipment, and related systems, including investigation of non‑conformances.
• Supports production and project activities by prioritizing tasks, managing workflow, communicating work status, maintaining accurate documentation, and utilizing databases to record test data, parts usage, and other required information.
• Fabricates or modifies hardware, tools, equipment, fixtures, or prototypes from drawings and sketches and assists with estimating labor, material, manufacturing, and repair requirements.
• 3rd Shift: Sunday to Thursday, 10pm to 6:30am
• Will train on 1st or 2nd Shift for up to 3 months, and then will transition to 3rd Shift

Work Environment

• You may occasionally need to provide weekend and holiday support to meet customer needs.
• In your role, you will be exposed to:
• Products of various weights and sizes
• Equipment with moving parts
• Chemicals that may emit fumes
• To minimize safety risk to you and product, you must wear static‑control and personal protective equipment.

Physical Demands

• Due to the nature of our work, you will need to be able to perform the following functions, with or without reasonable accommodation
• Distinguishing colors and meeting vision requirements
• Bending, stooping, reaching, turning as needed to place units in test stands, pick up totes, place units on rack, etc.
• Using hands for extended periods of time to perform testing and troubleshooting tasks (e.g. grasping, holding, picking, placing, twisting, fine manipulation)
• Must be able to stand for 2 hour increments without an opportunity to sit
• Must be able to lift 25 pounds
• Transporting product with or without product carts
