Job summary

RTX Collins Aerospace is seeking an experienced electronics technician for an onsite 3rd shift in Phoenix. You will perform testing, diagnostics, and hardware verification on aircraft components, with training on 1st/2nd shifts before moving to 3rd shift.

Qualifications

  • Typically requires HS diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED in the US) or vocational/technical education in related discipline.
  • Experience with electronics troubleshooting.
  • Experience with schematics or blueprints.
  • Experience with using multimeters, oscilloscope, and/or spectrum analyzer.

Responsibilities

  • Interact with cross-functional groups to support routine technical activities and resolve production or testing issues.
  • Set up, configure, and operate test stands and equipment; perform testing and record results; identify equipment failures.
  • Use diagnostic tools and electrical measurements to troubleshoot and repair electronic/electromechanical units to sub-assembly level.
  • Read and interpret technical documentation including engineering drawings and work instructions.
  • Perform troubleshooting, calibration, modification, and evaluation of hardware, fixtures, and related systems.
  • Support production and project activities by prioritizing tasks, managing workflow, and maintaining documentation.
  • Fabricate or modify hardware, tools, fixtures, or prototypes from drawings and sketches and assist with estimating labor and materials.
  • 3rd Shift: Sunday to Thursday, 10pm to 6:30am
  • Will train on 1st or 2nd Shift for up to 3 months, then transition to 3rd Shift.

Plans, assembles, disassembles, reworks and, performs engineering development and qualification tests on various aircraft components and systems. Analyzes and evaluates test results to verify that required parameters have been maintained.

What You Will Do
  • Interacts with cross-functional groups, including Engineering and Manufacturing, to support routine technical activities and resolve production or testing issues.
  • Sets up, configures, and operates test stands and test equipment; performs testing, interprets and records results, and identifies equipment failures.
  • Uses diagnostic tools and electrical measurements to troubleshoot, evaluate, and repair electronic/electromechanical units to the sub-assembly and component level.
  • Reads and interprets technical documentation, including engineering drawings, schematics, component maintenance manuals, drawings, and work instructions.
  • Performs troubleshooting, calibration, modification, and evaluation of hardware, fixtures, equipment, and related systems, including investigation of non-conformances.
  • Supports production and project activities by prioritizing tasks, managing workflow, communicating work status, maintaining accurate documentation, and utilizing databases to record test data, parts usage, and other required information.
  • Fabricates or modifies hardware, tools, equipment, fixtures, or prototypes from drawings and sketches and assists with estimating labor, material, manufacturing, and repair requirements.

Work Environment
  • You may occasionally need to provide weekend and holiday support to meet customer needs.
  • In your role, you will be exposed to:
    • Products of various weights and sizes
    • Equipment with moving parts
    • Chemicals that may emit fumes
  • To minimize safety risk to you and product, you must wear static-control and personal protective equipment.
Physical Demands
  • Due to the nature of our work, you will need to be able to perform the following functions, with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Distinguishing colors and meeting vision requirements
  • Bending, stooping, reaching, turning as needed to place units in test stands, pick up totes, place units on rack, etc.
  • Using hands for extended periods of time to perform testing and troubleshooting tasks (e.g. grasping, holding, picking, placing, twisting, fine manipulation)
  • Must be able to stand for 2 hour increments without an opportunity to sit
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds
  • Transporting product with or without product carts

Qualifications You Must Have
  • Typically requires HS diploma (or equivalent, e.g. G.E.D. in the US) or vocational/technical education in related discipline
