Job summary

ProMach is seeking a field service technician to support Texwrap, Tekkra and SRX packaging systems at customer sites and in-house. You will commission, troubleshoot, install and test equipment, and work with service and engineering to improve products.

The role involves hands-on mechanical/electrical work, PLC/HMI programming, and travel up to 25%, with some weekend work. Strong communication and problem-solving skills are essential; you’ll train staff and document improvements.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; 2-year related degree highly desired.
  • Extensive experience repairing and troubleshooting packaging equipment.
  • Experience with Allen-Bradley PLC, servo and HMI programming.
  • Knowledge of VFDs from Emerson/Hitachi; Red Lion HMIs and temp controllers.
  • SolidWorks and E-Drawings experience preferred; packaging conveyors a plus.
  • Strong communication and travel up to 25% with weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with service and engineering to improve product lines and deliver quality.
  • Troubleshoot and solve operational issues with shrink wrap and bundling machines.
  • Finalize mechanical/electrical assembly tasks before FAT.
  • Install, startup and integrate systems with other OEM equipment in the field.
  • Train personnel on setup, operation, maintenance and repair.
  • Modify PLC programs and servo drives; install kits and reconfigurations.
  • Submit reports on installations, repairs, performance and improvements.
  • Submit expense/time reports; communicate with service coordinator daily.

Key Responsibilities
  • In house commissioning, troubleshooting and final testing of our full product line consisting of Texwrap, Tekkra and SRX systems.
  • Collaborate with the service and engineering department to continuously improve the Texwrap, Tekkra and SRX product lines and deliver a quality product to the customer.
  • Troubleshoot, identify root causes, and solve operational issues associated with shrink wrap and bundling machinery in house and at customer locations.
  • Finalize any open assembly tasks (mechanical/electrical) prior to internal FAT (Factory Acceptance Test).
  • Installation and startup of systems, including systems integration with other OEM equipment in the field.
  • Train appropriate personnel in the field and in-house on proper setup, operation, maintenance and repair of equipment.
  • Perform extensive mechanical and electrical modifications including PLC program modifications, kit installations and servo drive reconfigurations.
  • Submit reports on machine and system installations, warranty repairs, overall performance levels, problems, and product improvement or enhancement opportunities to the service manager for follow up.
  • Submit accurate and timely expense and time reports.
  • Communicate daily with the service coordinator to ensure all field issues at hand are completed and approved by the customer.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of high school diploma.
  • 5 years' experience repairing and troubleshooting of packaging equipment.
  • Experience must include extensive Allen-Bradley PLC, servo, and HMI programming.
  • A 2-year degree or certificate in Industrial Automation or Industrial Electronics is highly desired.
  • Experience with Allen Bradley, Emerson and Hitachi VFDs.
  • Experience with Red Lion HMIs and Temperature controllers.
  • Experience with Solid works and E Drawings.
  • Previous experience with packaging equipment and conveyor systems preferred.
  • Travel experience preferred.
  • Solid knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic components.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Allen-Bradley Compact Logix/MicroLogix programming/editing capabilities
  • Allen Bradley Panel View HMI programming/editing capabilities
  • Familiarity with servo systems and motion controls, particularly Allen-Bradley, is a strong advantage.
  • Travel up to 25% and weekends when necessary.
