Job summary

EnerSys, via Precision Power Solutions, seeks a Test Technician to support aerospace and defense thermal battery testing. You will set up tests, collect data, and document results under strict procedures to ensure reliability.

You will work hands-on with thermocouples, wiring, and calibration equipment, read technical drawings, and collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams in a fast-paced, ITAR-controlled environment.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Set up test apparatus and conduct thermal battery tests following detailed engineering procedures.
• Prepare batteries for testing by installing thermocouples, soldering test cables, and assembling wiring per drawings.
• Use hand tools, small power tools, and calibrated test equipment to perform tasks.
• Calibrate, adjust, maintain, and troubleshoot test equipment per standards.
• Organize test procedures, documentation, and work orders for efficient execution.
• Receive requests for test equipment parts and repairs; identify sourcing options and prepare PRs.
• Record and tabulate battery performance data for DV, QT, and LAT reports.
• Manage data entry for Work Orders, Development/Qualification/LAT tests, and calibrations.
• Write and update Operating Instructions for existing programs and new development efforts.
• Populate technical test reports with validated data and documentation.

The Test Technician is responsible for setting up, executing, and monitoring aerospace and defense thermal battery tests that support development, qualification, and production programs. This role plays a critical part in ensuring product reliability and performance through precise test execution, accurate data collection, and consistent documentation. The technician will work hands on with test equipment, instrumentation, and specialized assemblies to support engineering, manufacturing, and program requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Set up test apparatus and conduct thermal battery tests following detailed engineering procedures.
• Prepare batteries for testing by installing thermocouples, soldering test cables, and assembling specialized wiring based on provided drawings.
• Use hand tools, small power tools, and calibrated test equipment to complete daily tasks.
• Calibrate, adjust, maintain, and troubleshoot test equipment and systems in accordance with instructions and calibration standards.
• Organize test procedures, documentation, and work orders to ensure efficient and compliant test execution.
• Receive requests for test equipment spare parts and repairs; identify multiple sourcing options and prepare General Purchase Requests.
• Record and tabulate battery performance data for Design Verification (DV), Qualification (QT), and Lot Acceptance Testing (LAT) reports.
• Manage data entry and organization for Work Orders, Development Tests, Qualification Tests, Lot Acceptance Tests, and equipment calibrations.
• Write and update Operating Instructions for both existing programs and new battery development efforts.
• Populate technical test reports with accurate, validated test data and documentation.

Qualifications

Required skills:

• Basic understanding of electrical and electronic principles.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
• Ability to read and follow detailed technical drawings and procedures.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for interaction with employees, customers, and vendors.
• Ability to apply problem solving techniques in test, equipment, or data related situations.
• Attention to detail, organization, and consistent documentation practices.
• Ability to work hands on with tools, wiring, soldering, and instrumentation.

Preferred skills (optional but helpful):

• Experience with thermal batteries, energy storage systems, or aerospace/defense testing.
• Familiarity with instrumentation such as thermocouples, power supplies, and data acquisition systems.
• Understanding of calibration principles or experience working within ISO/AS9100 environments.

Education & Experience:

• Associate degree in Electronics, Engineering Technology, or related field; OR
• Technical vocational training certificate with relevant technical experience.
• Equivalent military technical experience is strongly valued.
