Job summary

NWL, Inc. in New Jersey seeks a skilled Electrical Test Technician to perform electrical and electronic testing on commercial and military products, including high-current and high-voltage assemblies, transformers, and power supplies.

You will set up equipment, read blueprints, follow procedures, operate oscilloscopes, multimeters, hipot testers, and related gear, document results, and participate in training for production and engineering teams.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or technical certification is required.
• Experience with high-current or high-voltage testing, or related military experience, required.
• Strong knowledge of electrical and electronic components.

Responsibilities

Summary Job Responsibilities and ActivitiesPerform electrical and electronic testing on NWL commercial and military products, including dry components, oil-filled transformers, water-cooled assemblies, electronic assemblies, and complex power supply and control systems.FunctionsSet up and perform testing on commercial and military products and assemblies.Connect electrical and electronic components to the appropriate cabling and test equipment.Operate and monitor test equipment and power sources, including oscilloscopes, multimeters, hipot testers, and specialty test equipment.Test transformers weighing up to 70,000 pounds and rated up to 25 MVA, and power supplies rated up to 300 kW.Perform testing at voltages up to 150 kVDC and currents up to 5,000 amps, following established testing and safety procedures.Follow blueprints, manufacturing documents, and applicable testing procedures.Use material handling equipment, including pallet jacks, as needed.Test all NWL products and provide related training.Education and ExperienceAssociate degree or technical certification required.Experience with high-current or high-voltage testing, or related military experience, required.Basic knowledge of electrical and electronic components.Familiarity with the use and operation of oscilloscopes, multimeters, hipot testers, and specialty test equipment.Ability to read and understand blueprints and manufacturing documents.Computer proficiency.Familiarity with material handling equipment, including pallet jacks.Strong attention to detail and the ability to adjust to changing priorities.Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work effectively with engineering, management, and production cell personnel.Reliable transportation.Physical RequirementsAbility to stand for extended periods.Ability to regularly lift and move up to 25 pounds and frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds.
