Job summary

Vertiv in Anderson, SC is seeking a detail-oriented Test Engineer to design and develop test setups and procedures for LV power distribution systems in data center projects. Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical/electrical engineering or equivalent; thermal sciences preferred.
  • 1–3 years’ experience in power management systems testing; others considered.
  • Knowledge of Vertiv Power Management Products preferred.
  • Knowledge of LabView preferred.
  • Understanding of Thermal rise and short-circuit current ratings for LV/MV Switchgear and Switchboard products.
  • Ability to read and interpret industry test standards and schematics.
  • Hands-on with products and test set-ups to troubleshoot issues.

Responsibilities

  • Direct Lab Technicians and assign daily tasks in a lab environment.
  • Collaborate with design teams to align test procedures with expectations.
  • Create test plans for equipment demonstrations.
  • Review progress and interpret test results.
  • Present test data to customers using test equipment.
  • Conduct test validations and Factory Witness Tests.
  • Calibrate instruments in the lab.
  • Support engineering and customer teams to ensure quality results.
  • Nice-to-have: UL/CE safety certifications.

Job Summary

Vertiv is seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Test Engineer to join our team in Anderson, South Carolina, supporting high-impact projects in the data center industry with a strong focus on low-voltage (LV) power distribution systems. The Test Engineer focuses on designing and developing equipment setups and test procedures. The Test Engineer performs varied and complex assignments for major systems at testing; design and develop test procedures and assist in the evaluation of test equipment required to perform quality checks; prepare recommendations for testing and documentation of procedures to be used for the product(s). We are looking for candidates who are self-directed, solution-focused, and thrive in cross-functional teams. You will be part of a growing organization supporting some of the largest and most mission-critical data center projects across the U.S. This position will be based onsite at Vertiv's Anderson, SC office location.

Responsibilities
  • Work in Lab environment and direct local Test Technicians as needed in daily activity including job assignments and expectation of completion.
  • Work closely with design engineering teams to ensure test procedures/data meets expectations.
  • Create Test Plans for customer equipment demonstrations.
  • Review test progress and evaluate results.
  • Perform required presentations utilizing test equipment for customer visits.
  • Perform test validations and Factory Witness Tests.
  • Perform instrumentation calibrations within the lab.
  • Provide continuous support to engineering and support groups in order to provide internal and external customers with outstanding final quality test products.
  • Experience in safety certification such as UL and CE are preferred
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical/electrical engineering or equivalent degree; preferred with thermal sciences emphasis.
  • At least 1-3 years’ experience in power management systems testing. Other equivalent combinations of education and hands-on experience may be considered.
  • Knowledge of Vertiv Power Management Products preferred.
  • Knowledge of LabView preferred.
  • Knowledge of Thermal heat rise, Short circuit current rating for LV/MV Switchgear and Switchboard product and their methods of test.
  • Thorough knowledge of 3-Phase electrical circuits.
  • Thorough knowledge of digital and electronic circuitry.
  • Ability to configure data acquisition systems.
  • Ability to use temperature and pressure measurement instruments.
  • Ability to use standard electrical instruments and hand tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret industry test standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret product schematics.
  • Ability to be hands-on with products and test set-ups to troubleshoot and diagnose issues.
  • Leadership and communication skills. Ability to give directions to Test Technicians & communicate any test issues to all levels of management.
  • Excellent communication skills with a professional attitude towards customer relations.
  • Self-directed, good problem-solving skills.
Additional / Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency in English: Ability to communicate and work in English.
  • Good knowledge of MS Office (Oracle experience is an advantage).
  • Category B driving license.
  • Experience in project management and A-CAD (Solidworks/ CREO) is an advantage.
Physical & Environmental Requirements
  • Hands on engineering; use of basic hand tools; lift 20 pounds.
Time Travel Needed

Travel as required, domestic and international, <5%
