Qualifications

  • Requires a Bachelor’s in Electrical/Optical Engineering or related field.
  • Direct experience with optical transceiver test equipment and measurements.
  • Experience with 800G and 1.6T transceivers preferred.
  • Must be able to conduct GR&R studies and apply SPC to test systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting and data analysis skills; proficient in QA/QMS processes.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, install, and qualify optical transceiver test systems for 800G/1.6T products with bring-up and calibration.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance to maximize tester uptime.
  • Plan and execute GR&R studies and monitor SPC across testers and sites.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, fixtures, and instrumentation; perform root cause analysis.
  • Track tester uptime, MTBF/MTTR metrics, and drive improvement plans.
  • Collaborate with process/product engineering for NPI tester changes and changes documented under QMS.

We’re just getting started.**POSITION OVERVIEW**We are seeking an experienced Test Maintenance Engineer to own the setup, qualification, and ongoing maintenance of test equipment supporting our 800G and 1.6T optical transceiver production lines. This role is responsible for keeping testers qualified, reliable, and available for high-volume manufacturing, driving tester uptime, and ensuring measurement accuracy through GR&R and SPC. The successful candidate will work closely with contract manufacturers, equipment suppliers, process engineering, and quality teams to bring new testers online and keep the production test floor running with minimal downtime.**DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES**· Set up, install, and qualify optical transceiver test systems for 800G and 1.6T products, including bring-up, calibration, and correlation to golden units/reference standards.· Own ongoing preventive and corrective maintenance of test equipment to maximize tester uptime and minimize unplanned downtime on the production line.· Plan and execute Gauge Repeatability & Reproducibility (GR&R) studies to validate measurement system accuracy and repeatability across testers and sites.· Implement and monitor statistical process control (SPC) on tester performance and test data to detect drift, excursions, and out-of-control conditions.· Troubleshoot and repair tester hardware, fixtures, and instrumentation (optical/electrical), driving root cause analysis on tester-related failures and false rejects.· Track and report tester uptime, MTBF/MTTR, and equipment health metrics; drive continuous improvement plans to meet availability and throughput targets.· Manage tester spare parts, calibration schedules, and preventive maintenance plans to support high-volume manufacturing.· Collaborate with process and product engineering to support new product introduction (NPI), tester capacity expansion, and test program changes.· Ensure all tester and test program changes are documented and managed under change control per established QMS requirements.· Partner with equipment suppliers on tester buy-off, upgrades, and field issue resolution.· Prepare equipment and test performance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.**SKILLS/EXPERIENCE**· Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, or a related field, plus relevant experience in optical transceiver test and equipment maintenance.· Direct experience in optical testing, with familiarity in optical transceiver test equipment (e.g., BERT/error detectors, optical power meters, TOSA/ROSA/module test stations, environmental chambers).· Hands-on experience with 800G and 1.6T (or comparable high-speed) optical transceiver test setups is strongly preferred.· Experience conducting GR&R studies and applying statistical process control (SPC) to test and measurement systems.· Strong troubleshooting skills for tester hardware, fixtures, optical/electrical instrumentation, and automation.· Track record of driving tester uptime, MTBF/MTTR improvement, and equipment reliability in a high-volume manufacturing environment.· Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to lead root cause investigations.· In-depth understanding of quality management systems and applicable quality standard requirements.· Data query and data analysis skills using statistical tools and techniques.· Ability to work well in a geographically diverse cross-functional team.· Good command of English communication, both verbal and written, including in-person and virtual presentation skills.· International travel required.
