Job summary

Steampunk seeks a Test Engineering Manager to lead a growing DevSecOps QA team delivering quality assurance across application, cloud, and data systems. You will drive testing strategy, automate frameworks, and ensure secure, compliant deployments in an Agile setting.

You will mentor staff, manage performance, and collaborate with product design and development teams to define testing parameters, write plans, and provide clear QA reporting and recommendations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 10+ years of progressive experience in test engineering, including leadership or management of testing teams and quality assurance efforts.
• Proven experience deploying enterprise and custom software solutions in client environments.
• Experience influencing sponsors/stakeholders and solving governance, program management, or technical problems.
• Proven experience growing and delivering while selling.
• 5 years of experience with Git SCM providers such as GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket.
• 5 years of experience with one or more programming or scripting languages.
• 5 years of application DevSecOps experience with active development in an Agile environment.
• Experience with Docker containers and Kubernetes.
• 5 years of experience implementing test automation using Selenium, Appium, SoapUI, RestAssured, Postman.
• 3 years of experience integrating test automation into CI/CD pipelines including performance, security, and functional tests.
• 3 years of experience with performance and load testing.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal and collaborative skills.
• Must hold ISTQB and PMP certifications.
• Must possess an active USDA suitability determination.

Responsibilities

• Foster and promote innovative thinking across the client environment.
• Build and maintain client relationships, developing a strategic vision for clients and internal teams.
• Handle challenging client situations and offer technical and business guidance to client executives.
• Manage staff and monitor performance and training needs to create career advancement opportunities.

• Meet with product design team to determine testing parameters.
• Write test plans, create test cases, test procedures, bug reports, and QA final reports.
• Manage test data architecture and requests.
• Troubleshoot errors and streamline test procedures.
• Test and examine code with various testing types (data validation, functional, performance/load, usability, accessibility).
• Establish automated testing tools and infrastructure for test automation.
• Provide validation testing for cloud migrations.
• Develop automated testing scripts considering parallelization and idempotency.
• Automate and improve development, testing, deployment, and release processes.
• Ensure systems are secure against cybersecurity threats.
• Work with developers to ensure processes are followed and functioning.
• Document as-is state, perform a gap analysis, and produce actionable artifacts.
• Leverage virtualization and containerization to optimize testing systems.
• Drive continuous improvement for DevSecOps processes and tools.
• Present status updates and provide cross-training to DevOps team members.
• Lead and manage team members.
• Assist in sales and technical strategy beyond current programs.
• Engineer and implement solutions for continuous improvement.

Overview

As a Test Engineering Manager, you will work with our growing DevSecOps practice as a team lead delivering quality assurance services to support application, cloud and data systems development. We are looking for candidates with experience with responsibility for leading a team of quality assurance and test automation professionals to drive projects in an Agile/DevSecOps environment.

Contributions

Responsibilities include:

• Serve as the technical delivery leader, accountable for completion of team delivery efforts including quality oversight and client acceptance
• Foster and promote innovative thinking across the client environment
• Build and maintain client relationships, developing a strategic vision for clients and internal teams
• Handle challenging client situations and offer technical and business guidance and direction to client executives

• Understand the needs of stakeholders and convey this to developers
• Meet with product design team to determine testing parameters
• Write test plans, create test cases, test procedures, bug reports, final QA reports for products
• Manage test data architecture definition and requests

• Test and examine code written by others and analyze results, including three or more of the following:
  • Data validation testing
  • Functional testing
  • Performance and load testing

Qualifications

Required

• Ability to obtain a U.S. government Security Clearance
• Bachelor's degree and 10+ years of progressive experience in test engineering, including leadership or management of testing teams and quality assurance efforts
• Proven experience of leading the deployment of enterprise and custom software solutions in client environments
• Demonstrated ability to influence and consult while providing thought leadership to sponsors/stakeholders in solving governance, program/project management, business process and/or technical problems
• Proven experience growing and selling while delivering
• 5 Years of Experience with Git SCM providers such as GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket
• 5 Years of Experience with one or more programming or scripting languages
• 5 Years of application DevSecOps Experience with actual/active development experience in an Agile environment
• Experience utilizing docker containers and utilizing platforms such as Kubernetes

The projected compensation range for this position is $110,000 to $150,000. The estimate displayed represents a typical annual salary range for this position.
