Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking an experienced test facility engineer to develop, operate, and maintain liquid rocket engine test facilities at Redstone Arsenal-adjacent sites. You will lead cross-disciplinary teams, review test data, procure components, and contribute to safety, quality, and cost goals.

The role emphasizes hands-on engineering, project management, and collaboration with subcontractors to meet ambitious test cadences while ensuring compliance with export controls and safety requirements.

Qualifications

  • BS degree in engineering or related field.
  • Strong background in fluid dynamics and thermodynamics.
  • Strong project management, team leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong technical and non-technical writing and verbal skills.
  • Desire to take ownership of projects.
  • 2-3 years of Industry Experience in rocket engine testing.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships.
  • Must be eligible to gain access to Redstone Arsenal

  • Contribute to schedule, configuration, quality, cost, and process safety management
  • Find opportunities for continuous improvements to promote workplace safety, meet demanding schedules, and secure cost savings

This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities. Working with a small, hardworking, and accomplished team, you will focus on developing, constructing, operating, and testing at the 4670 test facility. These facilities support Blue Origin engines powered by liquid propellants. You will contribute to the progress of the test stand by participating in all aspects of hands-on engineering, and project management. Furthermore, you will play a significant role in the team’s ability to meet an ambitious test cadence. Desired
  • Expertise in liquid rocket engine test stand design, operation and maintenance of: Pressurized Gas Systems, Cryogenic Fluid Systems, specifically LH2, LOX, LNG, and LN2 Instrumentation or DAC systems, Liquid rocket propulsion systems
  • Technical expertise in component and system level testing of propulsion and spaceflight hardware through development, qualification, and acceptance test campaigns
  • Expertise in the following: Working with technicians to perform work on test facilities, handle test articles and lead test operations, Performing process hazard and root cause analyses, Sizing, selecting and troubleshooting fluid system components and instrumentation, Operating, troubleshooting and writing software for data acquisition and control systems, Familiar with the following software: LabVIEW, AutoCAD P&ID, Winplot, Windchill, Creo
  • Knowledge of fabrication and integration processes, systems engineering and quality control practices
