Job summary

Unum is seeking a Test Engineer I to join an agile team focused on delivering high-quality software. You will perform both manual and automated testing to ensure that features meet requirements and quality standards.

You will design test plans, create test assets, and contribute to CI/CD by integrating automated tests into the pipeline while collaborating with Business Analysts, Product Owners, and developers to define acceptance criteria.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Experience creating and executing manual and automated test cases.
  • Knowledge of Agile development methodologies.
  • Experience with test automation tools and frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Playwright, TestNG, JUnit, or similar).
  • Experience with API testing and test management tools.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for ensuring quality of existing and new features through manual and automated testing.
  • Create, maintain, and execute test plans, test cases, test scripts, regression packs, and other testing artifacts.
  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test solutions across functional, integration, and end-to-end testing.
  • Perform API and system testing to validate functionality and business requirements.

Join us.General Summary:The Test Engineer I is responsible for working as part of an agile team that delivers business value to customers. This role ensures software is delivered to high quality standards through collaboration with agile team members and the application of both manual and automated testing techniques. The Test Engineer participates in the planning, design, management, execution, and reporting of testing activities using appropriate tools and methodologies while adhering to established process standards and industry regulations. The role supports both manual and automated quality assurance efforts and promotes quality practices throughout the software development lifecycle.The goal of testing is to ensure that new and amended systems, configurations, packages, services, and interfaces perform as specified, and that deployment risks are adequately understood and documented.Testing includes the development, execution, and maintenance of test assets, including test cases, test scripts, test plans, and test reports, to measure and improve software quality.The Test Engineer is responsible for creating comprehensive test coverage, identifying functional and edge-case scenarios, and contributing to the continuous improvement of testing processes, tools, and practices.Job Specifications:Bachelor's Degree preferred or equivalent experience2+ years of relevant software testing or quality assurance experienceKnowledge of Agile development methodologiesExperience creating and executing manual and automated test casesExperience with test automation tools and frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Playwright, TestNG, JUnit, or similar technologies)Knowledge of object-oriented programming concepts and experience using Java, Python, or similar languages for test automationExperience with API testing and test management toolsFamiliarity with CI/CD practices and toolsStrong analytical, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis skills with exceptional attention to detailStrong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environmentPreferred Qualifications:Experience testing Salesforce applications or other complex web-based platformsKnowledge of enterprise systems such as Merlin, Agreement, or similar business applicationsCore Competencies:Self-motivated, results-oriented, and customer-focused.Demonstrates sound judgment, problem-solving skills, and an innovative mindset.Adaptable, curious, and committed to continuous learning and process improvementPrincipal Duties and Responsibilities:Responsible for ensuring the quality of existing and new features through manual and automated testing while supporting continuous integration and delivery practicesPartner with Business Analysts, Product Owners, and development team members to define acceptance criteria, identify quality risks, and develop effective test strategies and test coverageCreate, maintain, and execute test plans, test cases, test scripts, regression test packs, and other testing artifacts for new and amended software or servicesDesign, develop, and maintain automated test solutions and participate in automation efforts across all phases of testing, including functional, integration, regression, and end-to-end testingPerform API and system testing to validate application functionality, integrations, and business requirementsAnalyze test results, investigate defects, perform root cause analysis, and provide clear, detailed defect documentation and reportingPromote quality assurance best practices and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure solutions meet customer and business expectationsParticipate in Agile team activities, including daily standups, estimation, sprint planning, and maintenance of Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) toolsSupport continuous improvement initiatives by evaluating new testing tools, automation approaches, and emerging technologiesMay provide guidance to onshore and offshore testing resources and help ensure adherence to team quality standards#LI-TS1~IN1Our company is built on helping individuals and families, and this starts with our employees.
