Job summary

Sanmina Corporation in San Jose, CA is seeking a qualified Test Engineer to implement testing methods, install production test equipment, and support test hardware/software bring-up. You will work with customer engineers to keep testing equipment operational and develop test documentation for PCBAs and systems.

The role requires a BSEE with 5+ years of experience in relevant industries, familiarity with Linux and scripting languages, plus experience with ATE products and Test Interface Units.

Job Purpose

Implements testing methods and installs production test equipment as defined by the customer's test plans. Supports test hardware/equipment and software bring-up and acceptance and provides feedback to customers. Works with customer engineers to keep testing equipment operational. Develops test documentation as needed. Troubleshoots production PCBAs and systems. Trains production line test technicians and generates labor and capacity plans.

Nature Of Duties/Responsibilities

• Write internal test plans, validations protocols & reports, maintenance procedures, test operational work instructions and test procedures


• Identify and communicate product software and hardware design deficiencies to customers, manage ECOs implementation impacting test


• Manages project schedule pertaining to test infrastructure implementation/update for NPI and existing product lines, provide technical reports on test issues


• Trains technicians and operators on new production test stations, supports debugging of complex PCBAs and systems, and performs failure analysis as part of continuous improvement. Minimizes debug aging.


• Supports product implementation in manufacturing. Designs a detailed test line that includes facility layout of equipment and workstation floor space and requirements for power and data networks.


• Drive continuous efficiency improvements in the test process, identify and drive test process improvements to eliminate the defects that are affecting test yields. Ensure that accurate Yields are reported for ICT and Functional Test processes


• Support new business development by interfacing with new customers, presenting on test approach and improvements, developing proposals and quotations


• Oversees and supports proto and pilot runs for NPI and supplies feedback to customers and the internal team. Ensure adherence to quotes following introduction of new products – monitor yields and throughputs

Education And Experience

• BSEE with 5+ years’ experience as a functional Test Engineer in compute, medical device, telecommunications, or life science industries.


• Familiarity with Linux, scripting languages


• Experience with ATE Products and Test Interface Units


• Excellent verbal/written communication skills.


• Ability to work independently and as part of a team


• MS Office experience


• Familiarity with ISO standards: ISO 9001, ISO 13485


• Experience in a Contract Manufacturing environment desired

Salary Range(annual): $90,000 - $115,000 . Actual base pay within this range (determined at the offer stage) will be based on a candidate's years of relevant work experience, education, certifications, and skills, and is just one element of our total rewards package.
