Job summary

Kyocera-AVX Greenville LLC seeks an engineer to support the Connectors Design & Operations team. You will perform testing and validation of new and modified connector designs, develop test procedures and projects, test hardware and software, fixtures, and related equipment, driving high-quality results on time and within budget.

The role emphasizes creative problem solving, project management, and collaboration with customers and suppliers, with travel <10% as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical preferred).
  • Strong mathematical, analytical, and computer skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Strong problem solving / troubleshooting and organizational skills, with high attention to detail.
  • Experience or knowledge of stamping, molding and assembly manufacturing processes is a plus.
  • SolidWorks and/or the similar 3D modeling tools (AutoCAD, Fusion 360, Creo/ProE, Solid Edge).
  • Continuous Improvement / Problem Solving.
  • Deployment and Monitoring of Key Indicators.
  • Formalization and Transmission of Knowledge and Skills.
  • Project Management and Innovation.
  • Occasional travel may be required (<10%)

Responsibilities

  • Support validation testing, failure analysis, design optimization, debugging equipment, and fixture design.
  • Coordinate construction and assembly of samples for testing and verify fixture compatibility.
  • Document test results and compile formal test reports for internal and customer distribution.
  • Develop and modify documented test procedures and programs to meet industry standards and customer requirements.
  • Monitor lead times and progress of sample development and testing to meet milestones.
  • Liaise with team members, customers, and suppliers as technical resource for testing questions.

Job description

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Provide support to the Connectors Design & Operations team, by carrying out testing and validation of new & modified connector designs;developing and maintaining test procedures & projects, test hardware & software, equipment, fixtures, etc.;and applying creative & strategic thinking, technical, and project management skills, ensuring on-time project completion, with the highest level of quality and within budget.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Support the Connector team with validation testing, failure analysis, design optimization, debugging equipment, and fixture design; for common electrical and mechanical tests including contact resistance, thermal cycling, thermal shock, current rating, mechanical vibration & shock, mechanical cycle durability, and others.

  • Coordinate the construction & assembly of samples for testing, and verification of sample compatibility with fixtures & equipment.

  • Document test results with high attention to detail, and compile all results into formal test reports for internal & customer distribution.

  • Develop and modify documented test procedures and programs to ensure compliance with industry standards and customer requirements.

  • Monitor lead times and progress of sample development and testing activities, to ensure timing milestones and customer targets (internal and external) are met.

  • Liaison with team members, customers, and suppliers as technical resource for testing related questions & concerns.


REQUIREMENTS:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering Discipline (Mechanical preferred)

  • Strong mathematical, analytical, and computer skills

  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills

  • Strong problem solving / troubleshooting and organizational skills, with high attention to detail

  • Experience or knowledge of stamping, molding and assembly manufacturing processes is a plus

  • Solidworks and/or ther similar 3D modeling tools like AutoCAD, Fusion360, Creo/ProE, Solid Edge etc. is a PLUS.

  • Continuous Improvement / Problem Solving

  • Deployment and Monitoring of Key Indicators
