Job description

Overview

Application close date: Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis until the requisition is closed.

At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We are developing reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable.

We are a dynamic team of collaborators, doers, and problem-solvers who are relentlessly committed to a culture of safety. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable space flight. Join us in lowering the cost of access to space and enabling Blue Origin's vision of millions of people living and working in space to benefit Earth.

Responsibilities
  • Provide primary responsibility for development, qualification, and production test campaigns on various New Glenn spaceflight systems.
  • Own the planning and execution of individual component and subassembly test campaigns on mechanical, actuated, hydraulic, cryogenic, and/or pneumatic systems from fabrication to delivery.
  • Author and maintain detailed test procedures; perform test readiness reviews and pre-test briefings; conduct data reviews to verify the success of test campaigns.
  • Collaborate with design engineers to identify test requirements; work with operations engineers to incorporate tests into appropriate test stands; and work with technicians to execute procedures.
  • Identify test fixtures, test support equipment, and data acquisition systems; coordinate with tooling and equipment designers to design and procure hardware.
  • Drive efficiency gains in testing activities to increase throughput while maintaining high quality and prioritizing safety.
  • Share in the team9s impact on manufacturing, testing, and delivering hardware for the New Glenn Launch Vehicle.
Qualifications
  • B.S. degree or higher in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, or other relevant field.
  • 3+ years of experience in component testing and data analysis.
  • Strong work ethic with high attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong written, personal, and computer skills. Ability to communicate clearly at both executive leadership levels and on the shop floor.
  • Experience successfully managing simultaneous project schedules.
  • Passion for spaceflight and space exploration.
Desired
  • 5+ years of applicable industry experience (launch vehicles, satellites, aircraft, motorsports, oil & gas).
  • Technical expertise in design, operation, testing, or production of pressurized (up to 6000 psi), cryogenic, actuated, and/or hydraulic systems.
  • Knowledge of fluid components such as valves, regulators, actuators, servo-valves, and fittings.
  • Experience with sensors and instrumentation (pressure transducers, accelerometers), data acquisition, and automation systems.
  • Familiarity with precision clean hardware and systems.
  • Experience with Environmental Testing (proof, leak, vibration, thermal) per SMC-S-016, MIL-STD-1540 or MIL-STD-810.
  • Familiarity with data analysis, processing, and reduction techniques.
  • Experience with data acquisition and automated systems.
