Job summary

Eagle Wireless in Minneapolis, MN is seeking a Test Automation Engineer to join the internal software team. You will build an in-house test automation platform that links test management, CI, and lab hardware to run unattended tests from firmware flash to published results.

Role involves configuring test benches, automating lab hardware, and developing agents that report health and status. You will work with Jenkins, Xray/TestRail, and Jira to orchestrate test campaigns and improve product

Qualifications

  • 0–5 years in test automation or test infrastructure for embedded or hardware products.
  • Strong knowledge of Python.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools (Jenkins, etc.).
  • Hands-on lab automation experience: relays, serial/USB control, programmable power, device flashing.
  • API integration with test management tools (Xray or TestRail) and Jira.
  • Ability to document existing systems and make architecture decisions with incomplete information.
  • Basic Linux and Windows command-line skills.
  • Familiarity with Git.
  • Interest in hands-on hardware and lab work.
  • Cellular modules and AT commands.
  • Carrier certification testing or SIM/modem configuration.
  • Configuration management (Ansible or similar).
  • Embedded, electronics, or hardware projects, including coursework or personal work.

Responsibilities

Join our internal software team to build an in-house test automation platform for cellular modules. You'll connect test management, CI, and issue tracking with lab hardware so tests run unattended, from firmware flash to published result. This is a build-from-the-ground-up project with real ownership and direct impact on product quality.

Key Requirements
  • Build a system that tracks test benches, matches test cases to compatible hardware, and manages reservations and queueing.
  • Automate lab hardware: firmware flashing, power cycling, SIM switching, and RF enclosure control.
  • Develop agents that run on test benches and report health and status.
  • Orchestrate test runs through Jenkins, triggered from Xray/TestRail or Jira.
  • Capture logs, determine pass/fail, publish results, and automate defect reporting.
  • Migrate existing test scripts and bench configurations from a legacy system.
Required Qualifications

  • Working - strong knowledge of Python.
  • Jenkins (and other CI tools) pipeline design and administration.
