Job summary

IC Resources and a growing photonics company seek an experienced Test Automation Engineer to take advanced electronic and electro-optical hardware from R&D through validation and production. The role is hands-on, combining hardware test, software development and production test automation.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hardware test, validation or ATE experience.
• Experience developing automated test systems and controlling lab instrumentation.
• Strong electronics and hardware troubleshooting knowledge.
• Experience with DVT, characterization and/or production testing.
• Experience supporting NPI or transferring test processes into manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Develop automated test software using C# and .NET.
• Develop and execute DVT, characterization and production validation plans.
• Design and maintain automated and semi-automated test systems.
• Control lab instrumentation via SCPI, USB, TCP/IP and Serial.
• Hands-on electronic and electro-optical hardware testing.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software and test-system issues.
• Perform root-cause analysis and drive test/process improvements.
• Work with ADC/DACs, microcontrollers and interfaces (SPI/UART/I2C).
• Support high-speed RF and optical test environments.
• Analyze test data and generate characterization reports.
• Support NPI as products transition to manufacturing.
• Develop and improve production test processes.

Job description

IC Resources is working with a growing photonics company developing and manufacturing high-speed optical transceivers for AI, HPC and next generation data center infrastructure.

They’re looking for an experienced Test Automation Engineer to help take advanced electronic and electro-optical hardware from R&D through characterization, validation and into production.

This is a hands on engineering position combining hardware test, software development and production test automation.

The role will involve:

• Developing automated test software using C# and .NET
• Developing and executing DVT, characterization and production validation plans
• Designing and maintaining automated and semi-automated test systems
• Controlling lab instrumentation through SCPI, USB, TCP/IP and Serial
• Hands-on electronic and electro-optical hardware testing
• Troubleshooting hardware, software and test-system issues
• Performing root-cause analysis and driving test/process improvements
• Working with ADC/DACs, microcontrollers, SPI, UART, I2C/I3C and other hardware interfaces
• Supporting high-speed/RF and optical test environments
• Analyzing test data and generating characterization reports
• Supporting NPI as new products transition from prototype into manufacturing
• Developing and improving production test processes

The ideal background:

• 5+ years of hardware test, validation or ATE experience
• Experience developing automated test systems and controlling lab instrumentation
• Strong electronics and hardware troubleshooting knowledge
• Experience with DVT, characterization and/or production testing
• Experience supporting NPI or transferring test processes into manufacturing

Nice to have:

Experience with optical or high-speed hardware is highly desirable, including areas such as optical transceivers, BERT/PRBS testing, optical spectrum analyzers, optical power meters, photodiodes, optical amplifiers, Keysight/Anritsu instrumentation or RF/high-speed signal testing.

Python experience is also useful, although C#/.NET is the primary automation environment.
