The 96th Test Wing is looking for an energetic full-time Test and Evaluation Engineer (NH-0801-03) to work at Eglin AFB, Okaloosa, FL.

If selected, you will be required to serve 1-year probationary period.

Salary: $89,508 to $138,370 per year including locality pay

If your current basic salary is within the NH-3 band, but above the stated Value of Position "VOP", your basic salary will not be reduced if you are selected for the position.

Requirements To Be Considered

In this position you will serve as a professional engineer, responsible for test engineering activities, programs / projects. As a test engineer for the 96th Test Wing you are responsible for test, planning, conducting, and reporting, on various types of ground air-to-air and/or air-to-ground test programs.

  • Security Clearance: Must be ablet to obtain and maintain security clearance
  • DAWIA Certification: Must be able to obtain and maintain the required level of Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) certification within 9 months of assigned duties.
  • Education requirements: Degree accredited by ABET or combination of education and experience—https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/0800/general-engineering-series-0801/
  • Continuing Education Requirements: Meet the Acquisition Position Career Category (APCC) of the position T-Test and Evaluation and the Acquisition Career Level required is 2-Intemidiate Levell II.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Serves as ground and/or airborne test engineer. As a test engineer the major responsibilities include test planning, conduct, and reporting on various types of ground air-to-air and air-to-ground test programs. Major duties include creation of test documentation to include test cards, Method of Test (MOT), and test reports.
  • Plans and carries out the collection and analysis of information, data, and standards used by the assigned organization to perform test engineering tasks. Research problems and issues to identify cause and develops solutions which take into consideration the methods and techniques of various professional engineering disciplines.
  • Carries out special projects designed to facilitate full use of incumbents training and development. Such assignments include the development of written summaries and reports to be used by higher level engineers and customers; leading teams of co-workers in completion of projects; serving as team member on large, complex initiatives. Uses a wide range of engineering manuals, standard publications, and technical material to obtain information, analyze data, and prepare reports. Presents briefings or presentations on findings which may require gaining senior officials’ acceptance of proposed solutions.

Knowledge Skills And Abilities

  • Knowledge of test engineering concepts, principles, practices, standards, methods, techniques, materials, and equipment to effectively apply engineering theories, principles and concepts to project development and execution.
  • Knowledge of aircraft ground systems, and support equipment sufficient to plan design, test, troubleshoot, evaluate, and oversee the development and/or sustainment of highly complex weapons and /or aircraft systems.
  • Knowledge of principles of planning and program management; standard acquisition regulations, practices, and procedures; and other engineering disciplines.
  • Skill in preparing design concepts, formulating working drawings, expressing proposals, and establishing requirements for technical objectives and characteristics.
  • Ability to prepare design concepts, convey ideas, and formulate working drawings using computer aided design and drafting programs, and/or project management/scheduling software programs.
  • Travel regularly scheduled commercial or military aircraft in accordance with Joint Travel Regulations may be required in performance of TDY.
  • Temporary duty away from base may be required. Incumbent may be required to fly as a passenger on military aircraft.
