Terraphase Engineering in Los Angeles is seeking a Principal-level Environmental Consultant to help lead and grow our LA office, building lasting client relationships and guiding private-sector remediation projects.

The role requires senior technical leadership, mentoring of staff, and direction on regulatory strategies, with a focus on California frameworks and complex environmental challenges.

This position offers a path to influence regional growth within a collaborative Terraphase culture.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of experience in environmental consulting, with an emphasis in remediation, due diligence, or site redevelopment.
• Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary project teams and maintain high standards of quality, safety, and compliance.
• Track record of building and sustaining client relationships, with a proactive and consultative approach.
• Deep technical knowledge in California regulatory frameworks (e.g., DTSC, RWQCB, LARWQCB) and private-sector project delivery.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with the drive to shape a regional office’s success through client development and leadership.
• Strong communication, emotional intelligence, and a collaborative leadership style aligned with Terraphase’s culture.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Engineering, or a related field.

The ideal candidate is a technical expert and practicing environmental professional who can build lasting client relationships, manage teams, and serve as a strategic leader in private-sector remediation projects.

Compensation for this position is based on years of experience, technical expertise, technical education, and geographic location.

Pay Range

$145,000 - $200,000 USD
