Job summary

BWC Terminals is seeking a Terminal Supervisor to oversee shift operations, mentor staff, and ensure safety and compliance across terminal activities. The role reports to the Operations/Terminal Manager and requires strong leadership and communication skills.

You will coordinate daily operations, assist in planning, and work with customers and HSSE to maintain safety, regulatory compliance, and efficient performance at the terminal.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3–5 years’ experience as a terminal operator or in a related field (terminal operations, pipelines, refineries, or similar).

JOB OVERVIEW

To assist the Operations Manager (where applicable) / Terminal Manager in meeting the business goals of BWC Terminals (The Company) by managing the shift team, productivity, and enforcing overall safety of the Terminal operations. To provide continual leadership and training of all Terminal Operations personnel on lineups, piping systems, safety procedures, and operational procedures. Report to the Assistant Manager or Terminal Manager, as necessary, all incidents, all safety violations, operational errors, or inadequate performance by operators. In addition, work closely with customers, agents, and surveyors. Have a good understanding and knowledge of terminal operations procedures, capabilities, and constraints.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Directly supervise and coordinate the terminal's operations.
• Assist the Operations Manager / Terminal Manager with staff recruitment, training, performance management, and corrective actions.
• Direct, assign, and guide the operations staff to complete the operations service orders, as per procedures, and perform said duties when needed.
• Assign daily work activities at the start of the shift to align work with competent operators performing the Operations tasks, as well as making sure any employee's training is aligned with the correct trainer for the task they are training on.
• Observe and make recommendations regarding the efficiency of the Terminal’s operational processes.
• Assist in planning and coordinating customer service activities in consultation with the Operations Manager / Terminal Manager.
• Act as the primary contact for customers in conjunction with the Assistant Terminal Manager or Terminal Manager.
• Follows and ensures compliance of staff with all regulations and laws.
• Maintains proper record keeping, including but not limited to Operations Service Orders, Work Orders, Training, and Time Keeping.
• Train and mentor operators, verifying core competencies and understanding of operational procedures.
• Complete periodic spot checks to validate proper training.
• Ensure that all equipment not in operating order is taken out of production and that repairs and maintenance of equipment are timely resolved, and ensure a work order record is provided.
• Work with HSEQ and write permits such as safe work, hot work, confined space, and LOTO.
• Assist the HSSE representative in developing, implementing, and enforcing company policies and procedures to promote and ensure a safe and environmentally responsible workplace.
• Approve contractor qualifications in consultation with the HSSE department and procurement.
• Ensure contractors are following all The Company policies/procedures, including compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Conduct safety meetings and daily inspections.
• Ensure all transfer loads/discharges are carried out per The Company polices and regulations, including ensuring appropriate product level in loading/unloading, coordinating the logistics and movement of conveyances.
• Direct tank cleaning activities, along with waste logistics.
• Assist the Assistant Terminal Manager / Terminal Manager in defining the scope, cost estimate, and goal of projects.
• Assist the Terminal Manager with the management of the projects, including RFPs/bids, budget monitoring, vendor/contractor management, specs monitoring, and compliance issues.
• May assist the Assistant Terminal Manager / Terminal Manager in conducting customer and regulatory audits and inspections.
• Prepare and submit various management reports promptly.
• Plan and complete special projects as assigned by management, including serving on The Company committees.
• Demonstrate commitment to continuous efficiency improvement.
• Ability to read and understand Safety Data Sheets (SDS’s) Interact and communicate with staff and co-workers professionally and appropriately and respond to and give feedback respectfully and positively.

• Coordinate activities with Human Resources to ensure that recruitment, retention, employee relations, performance management, and other human resource issues are effectively and efficiently carried out.
• Supervisors shall comply and ensure that assigned employees are compliant with applicable regulatory and company health, safety, environmental, and security requirements.
• Supervisors, and assigned employees, are expected to complete required training in a timely manner; perform duties in a safe and environmentally sound manner; and immediately report injuries/illnesses, environmental spills/releases, and any unsafe acts or conditions to supervision in support of continual improvement of the company's health, safety, environmental, and security performance.
• NOTE: Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Working Conditions and Environment: While performing the duties of this position, the individual is often exposed to a variety of weather conditions, including extreme rain and heat/cold, noise, fumes, grease, oil, noxious odors, cleaning chemicals, paints, glues, and solvents. Approximately 75% of the workday is outdoors. Physical Requirements/Activities: This position involves standing, bending, stooping, walking, and climbing. Frequently, the employee is required to perform tasks that involve kneeling, bending, crawling, crouching, pushing, pulling, lifting, or twisting. The Employee must be able to correctly wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE), including but not limited to respirators and full chemical suits. Must be clean-shaven where the respirator seals to ensure proper fit and protection, under OSHA standards. Must be able to wear and work in a full-body chemical protective suit for extended periods, which may include gloves, boots, and face shields. Occasionally, the employee is required to lift or exert force of more than 50 pounds. Frequently, the employee is required to lift or exert force of up to 25 pounds. Must be able to climb and work on top of bulk liquid tanks ranging in height from 4 to 60 feet. Specific vision abilities required are close vision of 20 inches or less and a visual acuity of greater than 3 feet.
