Job summary

Energy Transfer Partners, L.P. is seeking a Terminal Operator to manage the loading, transfer, and storage of refined petroleum products. You will operate terminal equipment, perform inventories, testing, and maintain safety standards.

The role requires 2nd shift after training (3:00 PM – 11:30 PM) with rotating weekend overtime. Strong math, communication, and teamwork are essential in this on-site Indiana operation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Able to communicate clearly with peers and management at various levels.
• Self-starter able to work with little supervision.
• Carry pager or cell phone for shift holds or reassignment, including after-hours call outs.
• Able to use basic hand tools and operate basic product testing equipment.
• Proficient in mathematics and able to perform calculations.
• Proficient with Microsoft Suite.
• Must communicate clearly, both written and orally.
• Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
• Able to notice subtle color differences in product samples.
• Team player, able to take direction, prioritize work, and follow rules.
• After 3-month training, work 2nd shift: 3:00 PM–11:30 PM, rotating weekends.

Responsibilities

• Gauge storage tanks and take daily meter readings.
• Provide top-tier customer service to commercial and operations customers.
• Calculate and input inventories and meter readings into systems.
• Perform daily and monthly reconciliation of inventories and thru-puts.
• Perform facility maintenance on office building and assets.
• Safely load petroleum products onto trucks and receive from pipelines.
• Travel to various facilities as needed, with short notice.
• Take product samples and perform required quality control tests.
• Log and perform scheduled maintenance and inspections.
• Ensure equipment functions properly and report failures.

Under general supervision of Terminal Supervisor, the Terminal Operator is responsible for operating all Terminal equipment in connection with receiving, storing, transferring, and loading of refined petroleum products in a reliable and efficient manner while in compliance with the Partnership’s procedures and regulatory requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The essential job duties for this position are listed below:

• Gauge storage tanks and take meter readings for all products on a daily basis
• Provide top-tier customer service to commercial and operations customer representatives
• Calculate and input all product inventories and meter readings into appropriate systems
• Perform daily and monthly reconciliation of product inventories and thru-puts
• Perform facility maintenance on office building, assets, vegetation, as needed
• Perform the safe loading of petroleum products onto trucks and receive products from pipelines
• Travel to various refined products and crude facilities with little notice to effectively assist terminals across the organization
• Take product samples as required and perform/log required Quality control tests
• Perform and log all scheduled maintenance and compliance inspections
• Ensure that all terminal equipment is functioning properly and report failures to supervisor
• Perform daily walk around inspections to identify potential risks and ensure good housekeeping standards are maintained
• Issue work permits to contractors performing work at the Terminal. This includes ensuring that pre-job safety meetings, lockout - tag-out, confined space entry, and gas tech monitoring requirements are met for all work performed at the Terminal
• Correcting or stopping all unsafe acts or conditions not in accordance with Company Policies and Procedures by any party entering the facility
• Remain knowledgeable of, and prepared to enact and coordinate the Emergency Response activities until relieved by supervisor or management personnel
• Communicate product outages and equipment downtime to supervisor, customers, and other impacted parties in a prompt fashion

Required Education:

• High school diploma or GED
• Effectively communicate with peers and management of various levels
• Self-starter able work with little or no supervision
• Carry a pager or cell phone allowing for shift hold over or shift reassignment, as well as call out at all hours
• Able to use basic hand tools and operate basic product testing equipment
• Proficient in mathematics and able to perform all required calculations
• Proficient with Microsoft Suite
• Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and written
• Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license for state of residence
• Able to notice subtle Color differences in product samples
• Must be willing and able to work as a part of team, take direction from supervisor(s), prioritize work schedules, focus attention to details, and follow work rules.
• Will be required, after 3-month training period, to work a 2 nd shift. Hours will be 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM. The selected candidate will also be required to be on a rotating weekend overtime coverage.
