Job summary

Amrize is seeking a Terminal Operator for the Des Moines terminal to safely load and unload rail cars, boats, and trucks while ensuring accuracy and fast service. You will coordinate with terminal managers, customers, and suppliers and perform routine equipment maintenance.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, strong mechanical aptitude, and 1–3 years of related experience. A safety-focused mindset and ability to work around cement and construction materials are important.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Basic computer knowledge and Microsoft programs preferred.
• SAP experience is a plus.
• Must communicate effectively with team members and customers.

Responsibilities

• Safely operates equipment at the location for loading/unloading rail cars, boats, and trucks.
• Maintain order accuracy and expeditious processing of requests.
• Communicate with Terminal Managers, customers, sales personnel, trucking firms and suppliers.
• Perform loading/unloading of bulk and bagged materials as required by location.
• Conduct general maintenance on mobile equipment and assist with mechanical tasks.
• Follow health, safety and environmental policies and promote safety culture.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Terminal Operator safely operates all equipment at the location used to load and unload rail cars, boats and/or trucks, ensuring order accuracy and expeditious processing of requests.

WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH

• Exercise and encourage core values including but not limited to; developing self and coaching others by inspiration and empowerment.
• Terminal Operators need the ability to communicate with Terminal Managers, customers, sales personnel, trucking firms and suppliers.
• Maintain grounds, offices, warehouse, yard, etc.
• Carry out tasks related to loading/unloading material, both bulk and bagged, waterway and road methods of transportation, as appropriate for the specific location.
• Operate and conduct general maintenance on mobile equipment and assist with general mechanical maintenance.
• Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.
• Other duties as assigned.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Required Education: High School diploma/GED

Required Work Experience: 1-3 years

Required Computer and Software Skills: Basic Knowledge about computers, Microsoft programs, and SAP preferred

Additional Requirements

• High Mechanical aptitude and ability.
• Physical ability to work at heights, confined-enclosed areas, and perform unloading functions.
• Candidates with a mechanical background and welding experience are desirable
• Autonomous, meticulous, good judgment
• Courteous with customers
• Knowledge of cement, the construction industry and integrated computer systems an asset
• Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
