Job summary

The Mosaic Company in Pekin, Illinois is seeking a Terminal Operations Supervisor to lead frontline employees and oversee daily terminal activities, ensuring the safe, reliable movement of products through a key supply chain link.

You will coordinate staffing, plan maintenance, promote safety, and coach teams to meet performance targets in a hands-on, results-driven leadership role. This position requires 5+ years in heavy industrial environments and at least 1 year of leadership experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 5+ years in a heavy industrial environment (fertilizer, chemical, refinery, mining, maritime, energy, terminal, warehouse).
• 1+ year of leadership experience leading employees/teams in an industrial setting.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• TWIC or ability to obtain and maintain one.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily terminal operations, including inbound/outbound shipments by barge, rail, and truck.
• Coordinate staffing, work assignments, and priorities for safe, efficient terminal performance.
• Plan and execute preventive maintenance and ensure work orders are completed on schedule.
• Foster a strong safety culture through training, safety discussions, and incident reviews.
• Supervise employees and contractors, ensuring training, qualifications, and safe practices.
• Monitor compliance with permits, regulations, and site procedures.
• Provide coaching and performance feedback to build a skilled, engaged workforce.
• Support operations and maintenance activities to meet business needs.

Terminal Operations Supervisor

Location: Pekin, Illinois
Work Arrangement: Onsite, 5 days per week
Schedule: Eligible for a 9/80 schedule with every other Friday off

As Terminal Operations Supervisor, you’ll lead frontline employees, coordinate daily terminal activities, and help ensure the safe, efficient movement of products through a critical link in the agricultural supply chain. This role blends people leadership with hands-on operational oversight, providing the opportunity to drive performance, support maintenance execution, and build a strong safety culture. What You’ll Do

• Lead daily terminal operations, warehouse distribution, and maintenance activities supporting inbound and outbound shipments by barge, rail, and truck.
• Coordinate staffing, work assignments, and operational priorities to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable terminal performance.
• Plan and execute preventive maintenance activities and ensure maintenance work orders are completed on schedule.
• Foster a strong safety culture through employee engagement, safety discussions, incident reviews, and compliance with environmental, health, and safety requirements.
• Supervise employees and contractors to ensure proper training, qualifications, documentation, and safe work practices.
• Monitor operations and maintenance activities to maintain compliance with applicable permits, regulations, and site procedures.
• Provide coaching, performance feedback, and work direction while building a skilled, engaged, and safety-focused workforce.
• Support operational and maintenance activities as needed to meet business and staffing requirements.

What You’ll Need

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 5+ years of experience in a fertilizer, chemical, refining, manufacturing, mining, maritime, energy, distribution, terminal, warehouse, or other heavy industrial environment.
• 1+ year of leadership experience leading employees, crews, teams, or work groups in an industrial environment.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) or the ability to obtain and maintain one.
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize work, coordinate resources, and support safe operational performance.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and employee leadership skills.

Bonus Points If You Have the Following

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering technology, operations, or a related field.
• Previous supervisory experience in an industrial, terminal, warehouse, maritime, manufacturing, or bulk materials handling environment.
• Experience supporting maintenance programs, preventive maintenance execution, or reliability initiatives.
• Experience with rail, barge, truck, terminal, warehouse, or fertilizer distribution operations.
• Familiarity with environmental regulations, Coast Guard requirements, Process Safety Management (PSM), Risk Management Program (RMP), or related compliance programs.
