Overview of the Position The U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia is currently accepting applications for a full-time, Term (18-Month) Law Clerk to United States Magistrate Judge Ivan D. Davis. This position provides legal research and writing assistance, prepares bench memos, drafts orders and opinions, communicates with counsel regarding case management and procedural requirements, and assists the Judge during courtroom proceedings and settlement conferences. 18-month availability required. Position to begin mid-September – beginning of October 2026 for a 18-month term. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain broad exposure to federal trial level practice in one of the nation’s largest and busiest districts. This position is on-site in our Alexandria division, and some telework may be authorized with prior approval. Preference given to candidates who can start as soon as possible and have civil litigation experience.
